Errors at control 1 and 2, control 1 had a brain snap when I saw Juffy running in from the south, i had seen control 4 before running off in the direction he had come from to then turn around back to control 4 and from there down the hill to 1, too high to control 2 I could see juffy in the distance but given I could see the clearing and bare rock below me I made the adjustment to drop lower albeit a little time to convince myself. Managed to get in front of juffy at control 4, before being overtaken at control 6 (I went right of the knoll instead of left side) didn't stop for water at 7 and took the lead once again. Slow and steady through 8, 9, 10 and 11 but clean. Control 12 I hadn't planned ahead and juffy went to the front but got ahead into 13 as he stopped a little early which convinced me to get some water down range. Was tough climbing out of 14 , stopped when I got to the clearing towards 16 when I saw a track. I was happy to lead through control 17 and 18 as I wanted to start the climb out of 18 first and it became a walk fest. I got concerned when I saw Vanessa catching up so I got running once up the top. Once started running down hill towards 19 it was great running and tried to go at a strong pace from there. Juffy got ahead into 20 and I didn't hear a beep so punched the map. Sprinted after juffy then quick look at the map, saw the rock I was after then just ran hard , saw rob west and aimed for him for the final control. Was a good result albeit for the early time loss. Need to shed the weight if I want to be competitive in four weeks time.
