XC Skiing 1:15:00 [3]

Nordic Fest at Scenic Caves with Getawaystix - managed to convince him to do some classic skiing. I tried to remember some of the things that Goose and CoachLD have drilled into my head over the last couple of years to pass them along to GStix. Of course, by the 1/2 way point, he was cookin' and hard to keep up with.

Went for a little trek with Weeanimal afterward while Mom did her ski. All the cool kids were out on this day - Hansel et al, Dee, Logie, Rydlo, BilboWells. Good times.

Trail Run 1:20:00 [2]
shoes: XT Wings S-Lab 2

Picking up the rest of the flags from the weekend's race with Goose by headlamps. The river was a lot harder so I didn't fall through this time. Lots of VERY trodden down trail in there to follow.

Trail Run 3:30:00 [1]
shoes: XT Wings S-Lab 2

Definitely not a heap of speed but the intensity got higher and higher as the light emerged after my 6h00 start to putting all the controls in place for the Caledon THOMASS (aka Humber Valley Hellrunner). It wasn't until 9h50 when I was completely done and all CPs in the correct spot. I felt weird about where I put CP4 as the deer had eaten my flagging tape, again, and once I left it, I hit the main trail too quickly. So, after putting 2 and 3 in place and returning to let the other organizers know that all was well, I rushed back to ensure 4 was correct...which it wasn't. Thankfully, I checked my shoddy work.

Really cool to show off our little corner of Caledon to the THOMASS crowd. It sounded as though people liked it and found the racecourse challenging. It's tough terrain out there so I'm glad there was a positive vibe. Extra cudos to the rest of the Caledon Navigators crew who brought wicked eats, a BBQ into the middle of the field, and all of the SI equipment.
