Cycling 3:00:00 [1] 5.5 mi (32:44 / mi)

Went for a bike ride on Angel Island: San Francisco Bay with Carol, Philippa and Rob. A lot of fun, exploring the old military remains, the magnificent views of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge, and the fascinating history of the internment camp there which was the west coast equivalent of Ellis Island for immigrants. A beautiful day before the next round of rain in the Bay Area.

Orienteering race 22:00 [4] *** 2.13 km (10:20 / km) +82m 8:40 / km
spiked:16/16c shoes: Brooks Adreneline 2011

10.45am: sprint Golden Gate - Race 2: Point Lobos (lands end park) San Francisco.
Abandoned race 1 yesterday as the start got delayed so long I had to get back to Philippa and Rob's as thet were having a dinner party and b it was going to be dark probably by the time I started and I had no head torch.
Race 2: had problems getting used to magnifier but it was needed as eyesight on the move not so great these days. Enjoyed course, hesitated in a few places. Alas at control 13 my SI card stopped working, but Sue Keustner was just behind me and confirmed I was at controls. Even though it appeared to beep at final control, it did not register. Very frustrating, as when I was at start the clear and check was around the corner from actual start.
Debated whether to quit there and then an go and see some sights.
Approx time 22 min

Orienteering race 16:55 [4] 2.02 km (8:22 / km) +58m 7:19 / km
shoes: Ascis GT-2000

1.45pm: Sprint The Golden Gate - Race 3: Adolph's Bathing (Lands End NRA, San Francisco.
Started with the group after my seed. Still frustrated and not into it mentally. Pushed hard, a fun course in a small park with twists and turns. Alas I mucked up the first control on the second loop and miss punched, so all in all a pretty disasterous day orienteering.
Overall, the format is fun, the storm passing through really mucked up their plans, permissions hard the confirm. Vlad planned good courses in the terrain, but they definitely need more helpers to make things run smoother. Really like the idea of multiple sprints.

Ended up deciding to miss race 4 in The west end of Golden Gate Park as head not in the right place to run and I wanted to visit the California Academy of Science again which was phenomenal.
