Event: DVOA Batsto

Orienteering race 1:06:07 [4] *** 7.1 km (9:19 / km) +125m 8:34 / km
spiked:15/slept:10.0 weight:197.2lbs shoes: Innov8 (Yellow)

DVOA Event: BATSTO, NJ
A wet dreary day, but good to get out orienteering again, seems ages, and Batsto is a good area, even with the high blueberry bushes. Also last event of the year and I needed it to make DVOA rankings.
Lost a minute right at the start as had a problem orienting the map! Never had that problem before. Felt good going straight 2-3 as needed to be clean. 4-5 lost 1.5 min as trail not clear so did not cut in early enough. (If I pace counted maybe that would have been avoided or lost my distance estimation skill?). 6-7 did another dumb error I haven't done by leaving the control NE instead of west! 8-9 headed in early so did a parallel error up the wrong re-entrant. Lost a couple of minutes. Couple of dead legs at end 11-12 and 13-14.
Overall really enjoyed the course, good legs which required reading the subtlety of the contours. Great job by Dan and Zachary Barker

Having got the results for my check up my cholesterol count is getting high so need to work on getting it down - so more exercise and cutting out on some of my bad habits.
