Orienteering race (Bicheno) 20:40 [5] 4.1 km (5:02 / km)

Skipped up to Bicheno, scene of Aus Sprint 2012, for a sprint race. Cracking area with lots of running along coastal rock sea-shelves, some granite, and the usual streets/schools/caravan parks. Planner probably got a bit carried away linking it all up, but that made for a better course with more variety, so I welcomed that. My run was reasonably good - a couple of dithers but no actual mistakes.

Rest of the day out was good - stopped at Orford on the way back and Florence had great fun paddling on the sand bars while Gracie did a run, and we had a nice dinner at the hotel there.

Running warm up/down 10:00 [2] 2.0 km (5:00 / km)

Running 42:00 [3] 8.6 km (4:53 / km)

Down in Hobart for a few days for Ryan and Emma's wedding. Found a window for a run up Knocklofty from Gracie's folks house. A fair old climb but felt fairly good. Was fairly sure on the way up that it was more climb than Mt Taylor and it turns out that it was, interestingly. Had fun on the descent getting the average mpks back down below 5.

Running 50:00 [3] 10.0 km (5:00 / km)

Morning run on Farrer and Wanniassa. Legs pretty heavy on the ups but fine otherwise.

Running 35:00 [3] 6.6 km (5:18 / km)

Morning jog around Taylor - nice and cool before a hot day. Legs very tired and stiff from the last couple of days but took it gently and felt like the run did me some good.
5 PM

Orienteering 29:00 [3] 2.7 km (10:44 / km)

O-training on Taylor set by Theo and Emil. Idea was to do some slope orienteering as practice for Isaacs at Easter. Really good to get out and do some technique training for the first time in longer than I care to remember. Got me thinking about height, visualisation, distance and all that jazz. It was pretty bushy and stony underfoot though so, with very tired legs, I struggled somewhat. Made a couple of howlers, although the vegetation-less map didn't help that.

Running 21:00 [3] 3.7 km (5:41 / km)

Jog from home to and from the o-training.

Running 1:42:00 [3] 20.5 km (4:59 / km)

Long exploratory run on 4WD tracks out in the Brindabellas. Bit of an adventure just driving to the start along a dirt road that involved opening various gates. Turned out to be quite a nice loop though. First bit was along the Baldy Range ridge line, which had a few significant undulations and the occasional glimpse of a cracking view both ways through the trees. Nice trail too that didn't seem to get used much. Then under some power lines and then another FT back through some private land at Dingo Dell (not too worried as it was quite late evening by then so didn't expect to bump into anyone). Felt a bit heavy-legged the whole way, but seemed to keep going ok. Kebab from Alibabas on the way home hit the spot.

Damn, forgot to make a meme out of this one
7 AM

Running 35:00 [3] 6.7 km (5:13 / km)

Loosener around Taylor - legs were quite stiff to start with and felt alright by the end, so it must've worked.
5 PM

Running 45:00 [5] 7.0 km (6:26 / km)

Ran hard up Mt Tennent, but probably a bit too hard on the lower section as I was properly rooted by the time it got steep. Kept pushing though and found a second wind on the fire trail near the top. Ended up 2mins behind Marty's strava record, which I was pretty pleased with. Had a nice sit down at the summit taking in the cracking views in warm evening sunshine.

Running 38:00 [3] 7.0 km (5:26 / km)

Jog back down - feeling quite sore and tired. Left achilles a little achy. Treated myself to a maccas on the way home.
