Orienteering race (ACT League) 1:17:00 [4] 12.0 km (6:25 / km)

At Sandhills. 2nd place, although I'd have me down as MP if I was the organiser given that, technically speaking, I didn't punch all of the controls. Nailed the long-leg to #1 well, loving the vague stony hilly terrain. #2 easy then #3 up onto the big spur, control should be pretty much on top of the big spur where it splits in 2, found said location....no control. Ran up the spur to the top of the hill, scanned, ran down to the bottom of the hill, scanned, back to the right spot, scanned. Ok it's not been put out. Carry on in boo. (Turns out it was off to the side of the spur) Enjoyed myself through to #7 at the map turnover, although several small misses. Cheered up by seeing both a wombat and a deer in close succession. 2nd loop of the course was really cool, but much stonier and I had to run extremely gingerly on my ankle. Map seemed wrong at #8 and #11 too. Amused to see Hoggster twice on the long leg to #1: first time while I was on 7-8 and then again while I was on 10-11. Suspect he may have lost some time. Meanwhile robw blitzed round in 66. Anyway, great terrain, a good looking course on paper, iffy map and an iffy control placement, lovely weather... Adds up to mixed feelings but a nice day out.

Running 5:00 [2] 1.0 km (5:00 / km)

Jog to start.

Running 31:00 [3] 6.0 km (5:10 / km)

Evening run up Taylor - enough light fortunately. Felt ok after a tricky week back at work. Ankle stiff but not too sore. Then went to Ethiopia Down Under in Pearce, which was lovely.

Running 43:00 [3] 9.0 km (4:47 / km)

Lunchtime run up Red Hill this time - a little bit breezy. Looking forward to the state league final on Sunday, the drama and excitement being heightened by the deliberate concealment of the latest scores.

Running 37:00 [3] 8.0 km (4:38 / km)

Back at work :( Did a lunchtime run around the East Basin to cheer myself up. Some improvements in the ankle although it doesn't bend a lot.
