Orienteering race (State League - Picaree) 52:00 [5] 10.5 km (4:57 / km)

Classic fast Australian spur gully terrain. Fairly hilly but the course was reasonable kind. Realised pretty early on that leaving the red line was generally a bad idea unless there was a big path (which there was on a couple of legs). Ran pretty hard - the incentive to catch Rob and Lachy helped push me along. No mistakes of note, but the orienteering was quite simple, so lazy techniques weren't found out today. Easter will be a different kettle of fish.

'The Killer' with Dr Shep. Nice route on some fire trails along the Bullen Range from the Cotter, then back through the flatter pines. Should get out here more often. River was pretty swollen so we ended up wading through up to our waists a couple of time - made Shep's earlier grumbles about getting his socks wet on some undergrowth seem pretty trivial. Once up the very steep bit at the start felt reasonably good.

6x5mins fartlek-style (i.e. I was too tired to do intervals properly) around Mugga and Red Hill in the evening drizzle. Might be the last time I run after work in the light for a while - I'll have to start making morning runs a more regular thing... *bollocks*

Morning jog around Forrest and Parliament House.

Orienteering 54:00 [3] 9.0 km (6:00 / km)

Ran some of Dave's course at Stomlo West with the L-club (Lizzie, Lachy and Lukas). Having got over the initial shock of seeing a naked man and Lizzie having fly-in-eye troubles simultaneously, the orienteering was quite good fun - Stromlo seems to be a much better area than I've previously given it credit for. I wasn't great though - feeling very heavy-legged and not orienteering particularly accurately. Always good to do these things in groups though - helps keep concentration levels up.

14x90secs around the East Basin. Tough going tonight - felt pretty heavy. Still moving ok though. Best thing about it though was that I won the nightly weigh-in with Grace for the first time in my life - desperate times call for desperate measures, and this one's paid off.

10min warm-up, 30sec recoveries, 20min warm-down. Nice sunset.

Steady run up Davo and Red Hill - pretty nice evening, not feeling too bad.
