Running 2:10:00 [3] 23.0 km (5:39 / km)

Fairly hilly fire trail run in Namadgi starting from Glendale. Planned on using a secret fire trail that would go through a bit of private land to make a loop of it, but got to the saddle at the top of Half Moon Creek (very nice) only to find a man and a van, so turned back and did an out and back along Gudgenby Creek instead. Brandy Flat Hut was nice. And it was a cracking sunny warm day. However I was rooted. Breathing felt all wrong and even 5mpks downhill was a struggle. Defo something not quite right - hopefully just a case of needing to blow out some cobwebs.

Note
(rest day)

Helped out at the ACT Rogaine navigation workshop, which involved around a 3hr walk in the morning on Hackett Hill/Campbell Park and a 1.5hr walk/jog at night on Blackie (where I saw a Tawny Frogmouth - happy days). Had planned on some kind of run in the arvo, but feeling really tired so had a long nap instead.

Running 1:00:00 [3] 13.0 km (4:37 / km)
shoes: Brooks Defyance

The last after-work evening run in daylight for a while. The usual - up Redders and Davo. Great views as the sun was setting from the top, aided by billows of smoke coming out of distant Namadgi (looking forward to finding out whether that means I can now access some previously inaccessible areas). The run itself wasn't aided by the 'broddeluxe' double half-pounder from brodburger at lunchtime sitting heavily in my belly.

Running 36:00 [3] 8.0 km (4:30 / km)
shoes: Brooks Defyance

Nice gentle run up Davo trig from home - obviously a wee bit tired (after the drive home and a long day at work more than anything) but held up ok. Lovely evening and great views from the top as always - won't be able to say that much more after the clocks change this weekend :s

Orienteering race (Easter Day 3) 43:03 [5] 9.5 km (4:32 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 X-talon 212

Crusoe. 2nd place, 20s behind Bryan. Very fast, very easy - ideal area to be taking a small lead into, just needed to make sure I didn't do anything stupid. Turned out 5 of us pretty much ran the same speed for the whole thing, with Bryan just having the edge. I wobbled on #1 and dropped 10s. Straight to #4 was probably a few seconds slower than round to the right. Slightly hesitant on #8 dropping 10s. Bryan inched away on #10 to #13. Happy with my run though, felt strong physically and hardly deviated from the red line (would be interesting to see who ran the least distance). A bit nervy on the run-in when I heard them say I was 2nd, but very relieved to hear that was just on the day. A great Easter carnival - 4 very different races. A few things went my way over the weekend, so need to put in some decent training over the next few weeks so that I'm leaving less to chance.
