Orienteering race (Xmas 5days - Yackandandah) 39:00 [5] 5.0 km (7:48 / km)
shoes: Inov8 oroc 280

Was also looking forward to running here after everyone had banged on about how good/hard it was. They were right. Went slow to start with and things generally made sense but I tended to make a sizeable mistake about every 3rd control (3, 6, 10, 13). Ended up with another fairly poor result a fair bit back on Jules. Great fun though - would have loved to have been able to have another go afterwards!

Orienteering race (Xmas 5days - KangarooXing) 41:00 [5] 7.0 km (5:51 / km)
shoes: Inov8 oroc 280

Awesome area - had been looking forward to finally running here. Lots of rocks and pines and stuff. Set off ok, caught Bryan at #3, then ballsed #4 by 1min up having raced out of 3 too fast and not picking up the small ditch. Slow (relative to Jules) on 5, but still in the game up to #9. Took a wide path route on the long leg but cut into the control at the wrong angle and binned a substantial amount of time (2mins?). Ok from then to the penultimate where I lost another minute cutting in off the path at the wrong angle. All up 4mins time loss on only 3 controls felt like not a bad effort on such a tricky area, but the Aussies and David don't seem to find it so tricky - 5mins back on Jules who ran very well after an early time loss.

Orienteering race (Xmas 5days - Barambogie) 45:00 [5] 8.0 km (5:38 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 X-talon 212

Long leg to #1 did well - caught Grant up here. Clean through to #4 but took a rubbish line through some huge rocks on #5 and dropped the best part of 1.30mins. Then I was pretty stuffed for the rest of the course - really felt the hills. Silly mistake at #13 cost me some more time. Ended up 3.30 behind Jules and in a bit of a boo because I'd felt so poo. In hindsight I'd run ok other than #5.

Orienteering race (Xmas 5days - Magenta) 35:33 [5] 8.0 km (4:27 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 X-talon 212

Fast spur-gully terrain and afternoon starts meant it was pretty hot. Hit the first 3 well and then caught glimpses of Simon through 4 and 5. Caught him on at 6 having taken different lines. Slightly off line on 8 and 9 and a wobble at the 2nd to last control cost me a few seconds, but other than that it was a clean run. Felt like I paced it well and was really pleased to just take the win - good confidence boost for my fitness.

Usual Davo loop - felt pretty good so pushed along a bit.

Running 38:00 [3] 8.0 km (4:45 / km)
shoes: New Balance 769

Christmas run with Gracie up Redders and Davo. Not a soul out and about which was a bit surprising - not particularly great weather though (cool and cloudy). Then had a lovely Christmas Day with Jasmine and Craig - my roast potatoes and sausages wrapped in bacon worked out fine so I ate and drank a lot to celebrate.

Running 19:30 [5] 6.0 km (3:15 / km)
shoes: New Balance 769

6x1km at the XC track before it got too hot (and before I had to go to work - although all I'm doing at work is filling in AP so it's not too bad) in 3.10-3.16. Not great, not bad.

Running 30:30 [2] 6.0 km (5:05 / km)
shoes: New Balance 769

2.5km up and down plus some monkeying between.
