Tharwa Tor - 2nd to Shep by about 4mins. Not quite the confidence-boosting, clean, fast race 1 week before Easter I was hoping for! Struggled to get into the map and terrain from the word go really. Mainly open with scattered rocks, spikey thickets and well tucked-away control sites. Didn't hit many cleanly and got quickly tired on the hills and ended up plodding somewhat.

Just a warm-up, the last bit of the course was slow enough to count as a warm-down in its own right.

Longish run with Shep from Blackie, out through Aranda and Brucie - some bits I hadn't run in for about 4 years, which was nice. Good to have company, the time went by a lot quicker than normal.

Got to Sydney at about 5pm, then taxi to hotel and train out to Wollstonecraft - by then it was 7pm so getting a bit dark, but I stuck to my plan of running around some paths on the northshore, over the bridge and back to the hotel in the CBD. Barry's Creek and Barry Island were really cool little bush tracks despite being in the middle of Sydney, then out to Bull's Head which gave me some cool views of the Harbour Bridge. Then it really was dark, but by now I was on roads so it was ok. The bridge itself wasn't all that - swap the Opera House for Pill and you have the M5 Avonmouth Bridge...

4x1500m at the Stromlo xc-track. Grass was a little sodden this afternoon after some rain in the last couple of days. 4.43, 4.41, 4.41, 4.40 - basically the same times as I did in December 2007 - nice to see I've progressed not at all since then! (although I am getting old and I was quite fit then, so I'm actually quite happy with that).

2x2.5km loop as warm-up and down (plus 2min recoveries).

Terrainy run out at Kowen - started off with Molonglo gorge, then wound my way through the pines back to the car. Was pretty dark by the time I finished.
