Nice Christmas Day with the whole Elson clan and partners together for the first time in Hobart.

Running 1:00:00 [3] 12.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Brooks Defyance

Back in Hobart after the short Bruny trip, so ran from the Elson home to the Domain and Cornelian Bay. Hot day. Then went and played some golf.

Running 50:00 [3] 10.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Brooks Defyance

Some dirt roads on Bruny to the Mavista Falls walking trail. Looked like a nice trail so thought I'd check out the falls... After about 400m the track stopped at a bench in some thick forest where I was greeted by ANOTHER FRICKEN TRACK CLOSED SIGN! Grrr. Anyway the path obviously continued beyond the sign, so I followed it onto the falls. Nothing spectacular, but good natural forest. The path was fine other than a couple of fallen trees and some slippery rocks.

Then went out on the fishing boat and got followed by more dolphins :o)

Running 1:05:00 [3] 11.0 km (5:55 / km)

Slide Track on Bruny Island. Heard some snake/leach/scrub-related horror stories about this path but they didn't put off the explorer in me. It was fine running it, taking me into some pretty remote jungly bush, but no views and grass cutting my knees meant it wasn't overly enjoyable. Ran out for 30mins then turned back. Back to the shack along the beach, then cold beers.

Running 1:05:00 [3] 12.0 km (5:25 / km)

Fluted Cape run on Bruny Island - one of my favourite 1 hour loops in the whole world! Cracking sunny weather, clear blue sea, white sands, a good technical climb and great views. Plus an echidna. Happy days. Then went out on the fishing boat and a load of dolphins followed us for a bit.

Running 1:20:00 [4] 18.0 km (4:27 / km)

Pipeline track out and back on Mount Wellington - came back hard to avoid over boredom (although there are a lot worse places to do a flat out and back run). Felt quite good. The reason it was an out and back was because the path I had intended to use to get off the Pipeline track was closed - this is an annoying thing about Australia that doesn't happen in Britain as a result of no public rights of way and an injury compensation culture. I am tempted to become a vigilante reopening closed paths for the masses.
