3rd place, just under 2mins down on Oli, not far off Scott. It was a tough beastie - 12.9km with 965m climb. Not very long ago I wouldn't have had a chance on a course like this, so I'm happy with the fact I was still racing away merrily at the end. I say merrily, I wasn't actually in love with the course and terrain. The Lake District doesn't really float my boat - it's just so bitty and hilly. Anyway, can't help feeling a bit disappointed - it was a tight 3 way race by the look of it - at #22, after 70mins, I was just ahead, but 14secs separated the 3 of us. Then we had to go back to the other pivot control but I came way off line (right of #18) and lost 1.5mins. Game over. Fought well to the finish though. Up until #22 it was going quite well but for a stupid mistake at #16 (also #22 but the first time round) where I saw the flag but thought it wasn't mine (30-45secs dropped). Lost a bit of time on #7 too looking on the wrong feature. But besides those it was a good race and I was happy with my shape physically. Close, again, but no cigar.
