26th place, equalling what I got in Ukraine 3 years ago. It wasn't a bad run, with only a few small misses, but I felt pretty terrible in the legs. Novikov passing me didn't help my self-confidence but I kept trying. On a good day I'd have got a top-20 but it was only an ok day. I guess I can't be too disappointed but I'm not exactly happy either as I thought I had a good chance today. It was a pretty crap course too, especially for a World Champs, but at least the spectators had a nice day.

5x 2mins (1min recovery) with GG on an undulating ski-trail. Pushed pretty hard and felt quite strong. Then had a dip in the lake before going to watch the end of the long final - great effort by Scott, has made me even more pumped for Saturday.

Some trains up at the model area - did the first couple fairly hard but got a bit tired/bored after that, so pottered round the last couple. Had a dip in the lake afterwards which was nice.

Get in there! Qualified in 8th - pretty comfy in the end although it felt slightly dramatic out there when I made a 1.30min error on the 6th control. As it turned out it only dropped me from 5th to 9th, but it sent the willies up me I can tell you. Orienteered faster and vaguer after that, but still in control (just). The first bit went well in the green - took it carefully. Opened out on the long leg - 4th fastest split :o) Then did my booboo - it was fast forest and I went way off line and overshot a lot but I kept moving so kept the mistake down (it'll look good when I draw my routes on). Really relieved as I was quite nervous before the race, but I ran in control mainly and I felt very good physically.
