Orienteering race (Craft Cup Long) 2:02:20 [4] 17.0 km (7:12 / km)
shoes: Jalas X20

Wow. An absolute beast. 14.7km, 870m climb and after the first 4km, almost all in steep green forest. Coped well with it, running at an even pace and most importantly not dying. Only a couple of small technical errors - lost some time on route choice on some of the (very) long legs, but picked lines I was happy with and some of them turned out quite good. Saw JD and Dan out there a few times but we were usually taking different route choices. Anyway, really enjoyed it and was surprised when I finished how long I'd actually been out there. Top Brit! Really happy with how my legs felt after the week. Good runs in the sprint and long, shame about the middle - which race was it I was running at WOC? Oh.

Running warm up/down 15:00 [2] 2.0 km (7:30 / km)
shoes: Jalas X20

Warm up only (i.e. the run to the start). It was one of those days.

Orienteering race (Craft Cup Middle) 50:50 [4] 7.0 km (7:16 / km)
shoes: Jalas X20

First proper race in Trondheim terrain - felt tough! Made some mistakes early on which made me lose the fight and then tiredness set in and a vicious circle developed as I got slower and slower and the terrain started winning. A very mixed forest with lots of interesting challenges. Need to be fresh and motivated to race well in this stuff. Still, all invaluable experience and I needed the forest hours before which led to my tiredness, so not too fussed. 15km in this stuff tomorrow could be interesting...

Orienteering 25:00 [2] 5.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Nike Pegasus

GG planned me a sprint course on the sprint model map in Verdal - some route choice, but fairly straightforward. Good to have a day out of the forest today.

Orienteering race (Craft Cup Sprint) 17:09 [5] 5.0 km (3:26 / km)
shoes: Nike Pegasus

14th place of the Norwegians/Danes/Germans/Irish, but also behind 5 or 6 Swedes. 57secs down on the fastest (Oystein Kvaal) and within 30secs of GG - surprisingly good result! I guess the race not mattering to me helped, so I was quite relaxed and ran at a good even pace. It was quite easy, but some route choice. Stayed on top of things well, and legs didn't feel too bad despite a big week so far.

Running warm up/down 35:00 [2] 6.0 km (5:50 / km)
shoes: Nike Pegasus

Decent warm up with GG, smaller warm down.

Orienteering (Iladalen) 59:00 [3] 8.0 km (7:23 / km)
shoes: Inov8 oroc 280

Ran a course on 1:10000 by the WOC mapper from an event last year sometime. Feeling quite tired on the uphill bits, but not too bad otherwise. Ran cleanly and picked some better lines.

Orienteering (Bymark) 37:00 [3] 6.0 km (6:10 / km)
shoes: Inov8 oroc 280

Hung some bogroll on a course I'd planned for Gracie, except I ran out of bogroll half way round - oops. Nice bit of terrain though - quite runnable with plenty of helpful marshes. Was clean and feeling quite good - getting into it now, but it will be trickier at race pace.

Orienteering (nr Solemasen) 56:00 [2] 7.0 km (8:00 / km)
shoes: Jalas X20

From Elise Egseth's house with her, GG and Jonn Are. Hung one loop and ran 2 others - problem was it was pissing down and we were using bogroll. A slightly grottier area but quite relevant. Made a few mistakes.

Running warm up/down 24:00 [2] 4.5 km (5:20 / km)
shoes: Jalas X20

6 PM

Orienteering (Vassfjellet) 58:00 [3] 8.0 km (7:15 / km)
shoes: Jalas X20

The rain finally stopped but the forest was overflowing. Still nice though. Ran a course the GB squad did in September with some control picking.

Orienteering (Solemsasen) 47:00 [3] 7.0 km (6:43 / km)
shoes: Jalas X20

1:10000 from the same place as Monday morning. A bit of a tougher course with less path/marsh running, but the forest was still pleasurable. Quite a few misses in vague bits and also just looking for the small control markers, so never got into much rhythm.

7 PM

Orienteering (Vassfjellet) 46:00 [4] 7.0 km (6:34 / km)
shoes: Jalas X20

Local evening event - probably about 300 people there! £10 for entry + emit hire (and an extra 50p for a map bag) - theiving Norwegians. Cracking event though in really good terrain. Started quite easy, but then a big long leg into some really wild stuff. Loved it. Quite tired in the end as having GG starting 2mins behind gave me some incentive. Pretty clean this time with only minor misses, although lost some time on route choice.

Running warm up/down 26:00 [2] 4.5 km (5:47 / km)
shoes: Nike Pegasus

Not on forest roads as GG promised me, so my trainers which GG made me wear got very muddy.

Orienteering (Iladalen) 1:13:00 [3] 10.0 km (7:18 / km)
shoes: Inov8 oroc 280

Route choicey course on a 1:15000 to break me into Trondheim terrain. Fairly tough going but nothing too bad and felt pretty good. Made a miss near the end running fast downhill in marshes, but pretty clean for the rest. Absolutely gorgeous alpiney forest with nice views. Really enjoyable.
6 PM

Orienteering (Nordmarka) 48:00 [3] 7.0 km (6:51 / km)
shoes: Inov8 oroc 280

With Andrew and Neil from Ireland. Massive thunderstorm when we rocked up so sat in the car for a bit contemplating actually going outside. Eventually did and slogged up 250m climb to the start. Then it stopped raining and a bit of mist came across which made it pretty cool. Plus the course was mainly flat and downhill, so pretty fast. Really enjoyed it again - felt a bit like Kinder but with trees. A couple of misses on dubious control hanging/mapping, but fairly clean otherwise. Niiiiiice.

Running warm up/down 20:00 [2] 3.0 km (6:40 / km)
