Orienteering race (Interland) 53:47 [5] 11.0 km (4:53 / km)
slept:6.5 shoes: adidas swoops

Really nice sand-dunes in Belgium (Hechtel). Nothing particularly intricate, and plenty of dead flat areas and paths, but enough to keep you on your toes, especially with 33 controls in 10.6km. Also very pleasant running. I had a pretty clean run with only a couple of (very) minor wobbles and the flow was quite good, so pleased with that. The easier week didn't seem to help me feel any fresher though and it never really felt like I got going particularly quick. Probably just a feeling rather than anything real though. It was a shame that Fabi was crocked, and Jon Are Myrhen was on course 2 (he ran 10secs/km quicker than me for 1.2km shorter), as the 3 of us would hopefully have been fairly close... Then lots more travel. A good trip away though.

Orienteering 50:00 [3] 9.0 km (5:33 / km)
slept:7.0 shoes: adidas swoops

More travelling into and out of Brussels to pick Nick up before finally getting to the Interland training event. 27 controls scattered round some fairly nice but straightforward forest. Don't think I took the best route around them and ended up 5mins behind Duncan.

slept:8.0 (rest day)

The first of three days of travel interspersed occasionally with some orienteering. No time for running today, but good to get a rest day in.

Running tempo 1:00:00 [4] 14.5 km (4:08 / km)

Hard run on paths/grass/mud around Blaise, King Weston Hill, Shirehampton Park, Sea Mills and back up the River Trym. Felt a bit heavy on the hills but not too bad in general.

Running hills 19:00 [5] 6.0 km (3:10 / km)
slept:7.0 weight:62.1kg shoes: New Balance 1024 - 2nd pair

B&W hills in Sneyd Park. Road loop of around 1km hard with a flat start and finish and a gradually steepening section in the middle. Finish effort at the top, then jog round the rest of the loop back to the start. 6 reps, all between 3.09 and 3.12, going off 5mins. Bloody tough sesh and good to be pushed along by a fast group of guys.

Running 43:00 [3] 9.0 km (4:47 / km)
shoes: New Balance 1024 - 2nd pair

Run to and from intervals, plus the jogging down the hill between reps.

Team Monday run in Bath with Matt, Matt, Mark, Keith and John. Aside from the mud and bickering it was quite a nice run on a nice clear evening. Trashed my road shoes a bit as I forgot to bring any others.
