Running race (Oldfield Fell Race) 32:15 [5]
shoes: adidas swoops

First fell race of the year, somewhere near Keighley. Just managed to squeeze the race in between heavy downpours, but the moorland was quite wet. Very fast course with only 1 short rough climb, so it was good speed training. Set off hard and gradually pulled away from the small-ish field. Realised half way round that the course record was do-able, so pushed even harder if anything. Well worth it as I manged to take 3secs off Ian Holmes' record :o) Defo the best I've felt running this year.

Orienteering race (Conyngham Hall) 29:40 [4]
shoes: adidas swoops

CLARO event. They didn't seem very pleased to see us and hurried us through the start - I suppose we got there right at the end, but not like we were gonna take very long to do the course. Oh well. Nice little area but some nasty green, steep banks and fences. Ah well, what can you expect? Worth going for a hardish run and some map training.

No time for a warm-up, but did a long warm down jog with Gracie round the Nidd Gorge which was very nice.

15x 90secs (30secs rec) through Wigton Moor, along Eccup reservoir and back through Alwoodley and Primley Park. Extremely wet and horrible and the path along the reservoir was 2inches deep in water - fortunately the surface was even and there weren't any potholes. Pushed fairly hard though and got a decent pace going, even if I was feeling a bit heavy. Had a tower classico for dinner as a reward.

Running intervals 24:00 [5]
shoes: New Balance 1024 - 2nd pair

Went down Leeds Met track at 9pm for a solo track session in the pouring rain. Dedication-tastic. 5x1km battling through the puddles chalking up some pretty rubbish times, but at least putting plenty of effort in. 3.15, 3.13, 3.15, 3.08, 3.12. Deserved the Maccas after.

With Mr Middleditch from home while the lasagne was in the oven. Nice evening and headed out round the Park, Gipton Wood and Gledhow Valley. Happy to run at a slow pace chatting with Middleditch, but I'll have to make up for it.

The Meanwood/Adel/Eccup loop. This Monday/Tuesday combo worked quite well in my selection race training, and they are my favourite two 1hr runs from home at the moment. Legs felt quite stiff, but the time was ok and my form didn't deteriorate.

4 weeks of WOC training starts today. Feeling very tired after a fun day out in York with the Elsons, but managed to get myself out on the Grey Stone loop. Felt ok considering and defo managed to wake my legs up a bit.
