Orienteering race (British Long Champs) 1:41:48 [5]
shoes: jalas o-shoes

4th again. Swap GG for JD and it was the same as at the JK. I'd have taken 4th before the race, and that was probably the reason I didn't do any better. In the lead for most of the first half, just cruising along nicely and felt really on the ball - even had time to notice differences in the map between Saturday and Sunday. Just lost concentration/discipline going into 19 and got deservedly punished with a fat 2 minuter. Finished ok, but no zip or belief that I was still in the fight for a medal. Very encouraging though as I know I can do a lot better than this. It was about time we had a proper length classic.

Running warm up/down 30:00 [2]
shoes: jalas o-shoes

An uncomfortably long warm-up as it was chuffing miles to the start, but made up for by not doing a warm-down.

Orienteering race (FCC middle) 29:12 [5]
shoes: jalas o-shoes

Well I'm not going to pretend I didn't try - I did, and I'm glad I did as I beat GG by 1 second. Felt poo and made a few wobblers, not least at the penultimate which was in the wrong place, the map was wrong and there was a tape in the right place. I think it was worth running though as it woke my legs up a bit and gave me a few insights into the area for the long (i.e. we ran on some of the same bits!).

Running warm up/down 20:00 [2]

Mainly with Gracie before and after.

Bramley Fall. Crap wood, crap map, crap course, felt crap. Other than that, it was good.
