Orienteering race (Crich District Event) 49:11 [4]
shoes: jalas o-shoes

Found my o-shoes in a bag that hadn't been opened since WOC. Some nice Ukrainian mold growing in there. Couldn't find my dibber though, and beginning to lose hope of ever finding my compass. Anyhoo, the race was pretty tough - terrainy and rocky - and I lost a minute early on (number 3). After that I ran pretty well but never felt like I really got going til the end when you could actually run a bit. Head a bit rough this morning. Andy Llewellyn was running well - I couldn't catch him for ages.

Rivelin! It's been a while. From Rach's to Malin Bridge, up Rivelin, up Coppice track and back through the stables. Ah the memories.

Lovely run from home out to Milford Common, then a big loop on Sherbrook as far as the Rifle Ranges. Back down Oldacre and over the fields from Brocton. Felt pretty fresh, but I wasn't pushing too hard. Hip ached but didn't get any worse. Saw upwards of 40 deers out there, including a group of 10 young stags with chonking big antlers having a sparring match, plus a group of girly deers looking after their cute little baby ones. Ripper.

Morning jog out along the canal and back over Jacob's ladder. It was so wam I had to take off my hat, gloves and jacket half way round. I put my gloves back on soon after. Felt okay, hip a bit sore.

4x 1km (off 4.30) at Rowley Park. Hip got progressively worse and had to pull out of the 5th rep. Still, pushed hard all the way despite wind, cold and loneliness. Bit of a boo at the end, but feeling better now and, before the attackpoint police jump on board, I'm gonna see a physio this week. 3.05, 3.06, 3.04, 3.09.

With Gracie round and round the track, mainly discussing how athletics is probably the most boring, monotonous, mentally tough sport of any.

From home, round the Chase a bit and back. Stayed light for longer than I thought it would, so I didn't have to do too much on roads. Felt alright.
