Orienteering race (Brimham Regional Event) 45:32 [5] 8.0 km (5:42 / km) +240m 4:57 / km
shoes: adidas swoops

Good little hit out round a nice little area. Would be great if Oli or Neil mapped it at 1:7500 and it was a middle race (i.e. no need for long boring legs across moorland to make up the distance). Course seemed a bit scared of going in the best bits of the terrain. Oh well, can't grumble, it was good. Just a shame when you can see how good that race could have been. Then there's Neil being hungover, Rob being knackered, Speakey recovering from injury, OJ out coaching, Marcus running down a course, Tim being old...... But, hey, it's all about focussing on your own orienteering, and mine was pretty solid today. Running without a compass is becoming natural now - haven't used one since WOC.

Took Gracie for a run out in the peaks. Plan was to go to Rivelin, but changed my mind at the last minute and went up Stanage Pole instead. It was really windy and miserable. Oh well.

10x 3mins (1min rec) on the Chase. Stuck to big tracks and pushed pretty hard. Felt ok. It was less cold than I thought it was.

Stopped off for a run along Frogatt and White Edges with Gracie on our way back to Stafford. Bit grey and dark, but not overly cold. It clicked that the Wellington and Nelson monuments in the Peak District would be named after the same people as Mt Wellington and Mt Nelson in Hobart.

Evening run out on the roads round Sheffield with Rach and Grace. Not too cold and not too many discussions about knitting, shopping and kittens.

5x 1km (off 4.30) at Rowley Park track with Gracie. It was too cold and lonely and shorts was a big big mistake. I bashed out a set of reps though so happy with that - not fussed about the times, which were ok anyway. I got in a big boo when my watch stopped working and stomped around and shouted. 3.09, 3.10, 3.09, 3.07, 3.08.

Run on the Chase from the punchbowl with Gracie. It was really really cold but we were nicely rugged up and it was actually quite pleasant.
