Running tempo 1:00:00 [5]
shoes: Nike Air Zoom Vomero +2

Hard race-pace run out on the roads. Eventually got to the edge of Canberra out in Macgregor and wiggled my way back via Melba. Spent the afternoon tearing my hair out to an icecream van which eventually went away, then went for my run, then caught it up over in Macgregor. Had Greensleeves back in my head for the rest of the run. Grrrrrrrr annoying.

Running 20:00 [3]

A steady paced warm down back from Florey. Looking for taps the whole way as I was dying of thirst, but didn't find any.

Down to the lake, up Blackie and back. Not much to report really, felt better than yesterday.

Running 1:05:00 [3]
shoes: Brooks Cascadia Pivot

Nice cruise round the Pinnacle, round the back of Mt Painter, over Aranda, down the bike path to the ovals and back along Redfern Street. I hate Redfern Street - it's boring, uphill and a lot longer than you think. Other than that it was nice to have an easier day.

Running intervals 42:00 [5]
shoes: Nike Air Zoom Vomero +2

5mins on, 2mins off, 6 reps (can't decide whether to call intervals like this 6x5x2, 6x5/2, 5x2 (6 reps), 5x2x6, 5/2 x 6....) on bike paths. Legs were getting heavy but it was that nice tired feeling cos you feel like you've done a bit recently. Glad when it was all over. Out through Page and Florey to Ginninderra Creek, along the creek to the dam, over to the UC and back over Gossan Hill.

Running 25:00 [3]
shoes: Nike Air Zoom Vomero +2

The first and last bits of the run.

Today I got asked in a coffee shop in Australia whether I'd just been on holiday as I looked so brown. Get in.

Running long 2:07:00 [3]
shoes: Brooks Cascadia Pivot

Ran up Mt Gingera (1848m) from Corin Dam. This was basically finishing off the run I did with Gracie a couple of weeks back after I'd got back and looked at a map and realised that we'd got pretty close to the top of the highest peak in the ACT that time. So followed the pink tapes up the spur. It was really hot and I was screwed, but I did have water and jelly babies with me. The last bit was great and cooled down a bit as I got higher up. Cracking views from the summit towards the Snowies and back towards a distant and hazy Canberra. I also saw another snake near the top (2 in 2 days). 75mins up and 52mins down. A great run that one.

Orienteering race (Goorooyarroo) 32:28 [4] 7.1 km (4:34 / km)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia Pivot

Bit tired by this point and the course/area was a bit dull. Good to do a second sesh though and kept going at a fair pace. Although the course was probably only about 4km if accurately measured. Enjoyed my maccas after.

Running race (Stromlo 5km) 15:40 [5] 5.0 km (3:08 / km)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia Pivot

Huge PB :o) I like the XC track at Stromlo, I think it's great. Every city should have one. Went out hard aiming for a sub-16 PB, and went through half-way in 7.44, gulped a bit, but the expected death never came and I did the second lap in 7.55. I reckon that's probably the best way to race a 5km.

The bad thing about being up in the top-3 was that we had to scare a snake off. First snake I've seen in Canberra, yay.

Running warm up/down 25:00 [2]
shoes: Nike Air Zoom Vomero +2

10 up and 15 down.

Running 1:09:00 [3]
shoes: Brooks Cascadia Pivot

Morning run into work. Felt alright but got a bit bored on the cycle path to Woden. Didn't feel great on the last 5 mins, but that was cos I stopped and drank a cappucino and ate a chocolate croissant in Westfield before heading to the runners shop.
