Running race (Great Hucklow Fell Race) 47:05 [4] 6.0 mi (7:51 / mi) +350m 6:39 / mi
shoes: Brooks Cascadia somethings

I dunno, I just wasn't with it today. Legs didn't feel too bad or owt, but just didn't have any zip. Horrible grey and drizzly day. Came a dismal 7th, well behind Lloyd, Rob and Phil who all ran pretty well. Defo had the wrong shoe choice for the slippery mud, but it prob didn't make any difference. Still, it was a good way to make me do a hard(ish) run, and I had my fair share of the free flapjacks at the finish.

Orienteering race (Planetfear Ultrasprint) 20:00 [3]
shoes: jalas o-shoes

4 courses of about 500m each with shit loads of controls. Only made one mistake in the 4 races but that was enough to cost me a place in the final. Would prob be better just having 2 people at a time, or 4 wings of each butterfly as there was always someone doing your loop at the same time. Also would be amazing if you couldn't see through the barriers. How how how did Neil blag his way out of punching the wrong control? At first he admitted his mistake. Then he "remembered" going to the right control, but it didn't register. Yeah right. All good fun. Crappest beer festival I've ever been to after.

Note
(rest day)

Well I was gonna do intervals but unfortunately the rain was beyond the 45degree threshold so I couldn't. And besides, I need to rest up so that I'm fresh enough to win 150 smackerooneys tomorrow.

Running long 1:35:00 [3]
shoes: Brooks Cascadia somethings

Not a great day. L. hamstring very tight. Not feeling tired though. Went out to Headstone, then across Rod Moor (hehe), round to Dungworth (which aptly still smells of shit), down Loxley Valley then up Spout Lane (ouch) and Lodge Lane (ouch ouch). Hardcore. Saw a fair bit of wildlife and decided that animals are stupid. Got mobbed by some lapwings and a curlew, then a hare ran away from me over the moor, hit a rock or something which catapulted it up into the air and it did a double somersault before landing.

Running 35:00 [2]
shoes: Brooks Cascadia somethings

Another morning jog round Redmires Dams. Feeling quite stiff but loosened off a bit. Found some paths I'd never been on before.

Tapton School. Head-to-head with Neil. We both got given the same maps so he didn't have to do much navigating. It was reasonably interesting. My legs were stiff but I ran ok.

Along the top of Rivelin and back to Tapton School. Nice evening.

Running 41:00 [2]

Can't be many people out there with a nicer morning run from their doorstep. Conduit to Redmires Dams, other conduit, down to Wyming Brook, top of Rivelin back. Sunny :o)

Running 1:03:00 [3]

Down to Endcliffe Parks, over to Limb Valley, up to Lady Cannings, Oxstones trig and back across the mines. Felt alright, legs a bit heavy perhaps. Back just in time for Le Tour highlights. Good job TV doesn't rule my life or anything.

Running 39:00 [2]
shoes: Brooks Cascadia somethings

Gentle jaunt from home along the canal to Milford, then Brocton and back over Jacob's ladder. It was nice and sunny and there was lots of birds and bees about.
(NB, from home in Stafford rather than Sheffield that is else it would've been a somewhat longer run)

Running race (Hathersage Gala Fell Race) 30:03 [5] 4.5 mi (6:41 / mi) +330m 5:26 / mi
shoes: Brooks Cascadia somethings

Nice evening for it. Hoping my old record would stay in tact but saw John Heneghen while I was warming up so knew there was no chance of that. Ran pretty well though, kept in touch with him all the way up the hill, but he nailed it down and beat me back by 25secs. I was only 11secs off my time last year, but it was slightly longer this time and wetter underfoot. Pleased with that cos I was going well last year and I haven't done as much hilly stuff recently. Neil (4th) got in a boo after with Bond (3rd) which was funny.

With Nails. I was stroking some horses (while he had an eye-of-the-needle poo) then one of them bit my toe so I ran away.
