Orienteering race (Easter Middle) 34:00 [5] 6.4 km (5:19 / km) +190m 4:38 / km

At Lovelybanks East, came 2nd a couple of minutes behind Simon who nearly caught me at the run-in. Probably was a bit simpler than I was expecting but also really nice firm fast runnable forest, which I enjoyed. Only a couple of small misses and felt quite good, so it was a good run.

Decent warm-up run to the start with Andrew where we ended up getting a bit lost. Also had to leave the event a bit early as Florence got a pulled elbow when climbing over me in the coffee queue, so that meant an ambulance ride for her and Grace to A&E. Fortunately it was easily and quickly fixed.

At UTAS, Hobart - came 4th (7th incl juniors). Fun course around a hilly uni campus. Felt like I ran ok although a bit hesitant at times and a couple of bad routes. Haven't really done much of this sort of thing for a while so was pretty happy with the outcome really.

Morning run along a nice trail amongst dunes and coastal scrub at Marlo. Then drove to Melbourne to get the overnight ferry to Tassie.

Orienteering race (Snows Hill SL) 1:10:00 [4] 11.0 km (6:22 / km) +330m 5:32 / km

Cracking area this - vague wild spur gully. Felt really weak in the warm-up. Got going ok and hit the first few controls cleanly but started to suffer after about 45mins. Then got a stick in my eye and things went a bit blurry so pootled back to the finish. Still, really enjoyed the bit I did, technically was ok, and more good terrain practice.

Tough course - hilly and constant windblow. Felt good and aggressive for half an hour, hitting the controls cleanly. Then got tired and weak and made a few mistakes. Good to get some terrain practice in.
