Evening run post Florence bedtime. It had rained this arvo so the air was nice and fresh and damp and the plants smelt nice. Ran up Taylor 3 times on my favourite rocky single tracks. Eery mist setting in at the top the final time.

Lunchtime run with Tomas again. This time we did some hill sprints at Rocky Knob - 7x25secs ish. Got a bit of lactate going which was nice. Then showed Tomas a peacock.

Plod around Taylor then up the NW rocky path. Very slow but lovely evening to be out and clear my head a bit.

Having walked the Discovery Trail near Durras North, I ran the 4km lake walking track back to the main road where Gracie picked me up. Lovely rainforest alongside the eerily calm waters of Durras Lake. A very short run but not up to much longer and just long enough to mentally justify the fish and chips that followed.

Weekend away at Durras South with Gracie and Flo. Cracking weather, lovely spot. Nipped out for a run early afternoon in Murramarang NP around Wasp Head, Dark Beach and Myrtle Beach. Who knew that Myrtle Beach was a nude beach? Lots of men apparently.

Lunchtime run around the East Basin with Tomas. Nice to have a training partner for this one, as de-motivation is taking hold of me. Unfortunately I had tummy ache so wasn't feeling 100%. We did kind of reps of 4mins/2mins, but really he just ran ahead and I caught up on the recovery. Highlight was a noisy miner swooping me from behind then carrying on to get Tomas for the combo.

Running race (Two Peaks race) 1:26:46 [5] 19.8 km (4:23 / km)

Enjoyed this. A couple of weeks of illness/sore arm/busy-ness meant I was a bit creaky to begin with, so just took Majura as a warm-up. Also tried to relax through Campbell Park, and strike on the ascent of Ainslie. Obviously Marty was long gone by this point and the guy in front had pulled out 3 mins on me. Pleased to feel really good on the ascent of Ainslie, so dug in after that knowing that it mainly flat/downhill from there. First run I've finished strongly in a fair while, which was a nice feeling - ultra conservative first half paid off. Finished 3 mins behind 2nd, and 10mins (ridiculous) behind Marty. Tomas wasn't far behind me - glad I didn't look back much during the race as I would've had a few scares.

Warm-down jog with Tomas - not done one of these in a while.

HFW - a real struggle. Been off running for a little while with a cold, a sore arm, and better family type things to be doing and wine to be drinking. So couldn't be that surprised today was a struggle really.

Orienteering race (Aus relays) 52:00 [3] 7.0 km (7:26 / km)

Arm got really sore overnight so had to pull out of the cockies team which was a real bummer. Rest of me was ok though so I went for a run around the m35 but without moving my arm. Fun area.

Orienteering race (Aus long champs) 1:41:47 [5] 17.0 km (5:59 / km)

Came 5th (2nd 'Aussie'). Bit disappointed to lose ~6mins on 3 controls (1, 15 and 26) and to suffer as much as I did, but it was long and tough and I survived ok. Having ballsed 1 I then slipped down a steep bank and hurt my upper arm quite bad. Got into things ok after that and went through a number of phases during the rest of the race, always broken by a big mistake and having to start again. Wouldn't mind another go at that race!

Orienteering race (Aus sprint champs) 11:30 [5] 3.0 km (3:50 / km)

Came 5th (2nd 'Aussie' by 2secs) at St Patrick's college in Ballarat. Tiny map, interesting course with no traps. Ran alright, felt quite flat but can't complain as I haven't done any speed work in ages.
