12 PM

Running 1:16:41 [3] 18.04 km (4:15 / km)

Solid, longish run from Orroral, up the grassy path in the valley, and back on Smokers and Cotter Hut FTs. Probs set off a bit quick as I was suffering after about 20mins. The next 30mins were gradually uphill too, so that didn't help. Didn't feel too bad at the end but. Definitely feels like I'm still dusting out cobwebs. Anyway, cracking day (as ever) down in Namadgi.

Orienteering race 30:00 [4] 6.5 km (4:37 / km)

Saturday local event at Majura West - I like this area so thought it'd be worth popping along. Fun course through fairly vague, open bush. Felt pretty rubbish but kept on plodding - time suggests I wasn't going as slow as it felt!

Running warm up/down 17:00 [2] 4.0 km (4:15 / km)

Running 52:00 [3] 12.0 km (4:20 / km)

Cruise round the dark streets of Griffith, 'bundah and Red Hill.

Running (Yarralumla Street-o) 32:30 [4] 8.0 km (4:04 / km)

Turned out to be a good solid effort on the roads. Felt pretty rough though - some way to go.

Running warm up/down 10:00 [2] 2.0 km (5:00 / km)

Running 55:00 [3] 12.0 km (4:35 / km)

Back in chilly Canberra! A loosener after weeks of inactivity - felt surprisingly good but, I suspect, I was going a lot slower than normal. 6 and a bit weeks to get some fitness back before City2Surf....

After the run met up with my boss for a beer who informed me that the rest of my whole team at work (him and another girl) have resigned!

(rest day)

Chilling out in Ubud, before getting a late overnight flight home.

Running 57:00 [3] 12.0 km (4:45 / km)

After a fairly heavy afternoon deluge, headed out for a run on some roads around Ubud (Bali). Found a fairly quiet loop that took me past a lot of herons roosting (who mustn't taste very nice as they're about the only native birds bigger than a sparrow that I saw all trip).

Running 50:00 [3] 11.0 km (4:33 / km)

Probably the only run I've ever done entirely within a volcanic crater (Bromo, Java). Got soaked in a downpour.

6 PM

Running 55:00 [3] 13.0 km (4:14 / km)

Petzl run up Davo, dipped into Garran and back through Forrest. Felt pretty good - the achy legs seem to have subsided.

Orienteering 45:00 [3] 7.0 km (6:26 / km)

So I turned up at Lachy's for a steady evening run, only to find he was off at Campbell Park for some o-training with Lizzie. Hotfooted it (in the car) over there, and joined in the night-o fun. Fortunately I had my headtorch and fortunately Campbell Park is pretty sweet to run through, so shorts and short socks was no biggie. Lack of compass added to the interest, although headtorch cutting out every 5secs was rather infuriating. Anyway, the first section went ok. The middle section was impossible due to the torch. The final section went ok again, although it was troublesome staying ahead of Lizzie and her built-in termite-mound radar.

Running 1:05:00 [3] 15.0 km (4:20 / km)

East and Central basins and back round Parlo. Brrrrrr! Calves stiff as.

5 PM

Running 1:00:00 [3] 14.0 km (4:17 / km)

Steady roady run along the lake, Yarralumla and back through Forrest. Really achy after yesterday, unusually so. Reasonable otherwise. Cold night.

Orienteering race (State League - Kowen) 1:08:50 [4] 13.0 km (5:18 / km)

Doubtful about how this would go given the last coupla weeks. Didn't feel too bad but felt like I was stuck in 3rd gear the whole way, so settled into a fairly comfortable steady pace and kept it going ok - the pleasant undulating pines were a real pleasure to run through. Very enjoyable and didn't make any mistakes. Feeling a bit rough at the finish and quite achy too, but should be reet tomorrow hopefully. Some way to go to get back to fitness again.

Running 59:00 [3] 12.0 km (4:55 / km)
(sick)

Yay, finally a run! Still not feeling quite right, but good enough to get out there and clear my head a bit. Enjoyed running in the much-needed rain round Campbell Park and Ainslie.
