Back to doing my 30 minute weight routine. It has been about 10 month since I did weights. Took it easy but my level was not far below that of my last routine.

MTC coached swim by Stewart. Worked on fast hard swimming. Arms were tired and legs started cramped on right side. 50m times from 0:43 to 0:47.

Nice ride with no wind from Oakville north on 6th Line to 15th side Road and back. Legs felt good after swimming

Moderate run before the temperature got high. Felt good after warm up.

MTC Swim with Coach Stewart. Warm up - 2 x (200 swim, 100 kick, 4 x 50 build) Main Set - 5 x 100 Fast, 5 x 50 Fast, 5 x100 hard, 5 x 50 Hard, Rest Time = Swim Time Cool Down 50 easy.
100 swim times started at 1:45 to 1:47 for first set and 1:50 to 1:55 for last. 50 m times went from 0:47 to 0:48 and 0:55 to 1:00. Technique sucked. Plowing water too much early on. Changed to smoother stroke later but no thrust left.

MTC Swim with Coach JJ. Warm up - 400 mix, 200 pull & 100 drill. Main Set - 2 x 200 pull, 8 x 25 no fins, 400 pull, 8 x 25 with fins, 4 x100 descending, 1000 swim easy.
Arms felt okay but took it easy on the long swim.

Won the game. Great skate. Legs felt better than last week.

Top of Northfield Drive to LP out to River Road and back and up the first hill. Legs still okay. Burn - 510 kcal.

From Wilmington to River Road, out & back, and back to Lake Placid. Climbing legs felt good with lower gearing and was able to stay in Aero or climbing mode for the duration. Burn - 1270 kcal.

MTC Swim with Coach JJ. Warm up 3 x 400 1 swim mixed, 2 kick/swim 3 drill/swim Main set - 12 x100m 3 on 2:00, 1 on 2:15, 2 x 300 pull steady, 2 x 50 pull fast. Cool down 100 easy.

Tried to keep head straight but improve body position. Not sure if it worked. Arms are getting sore from doing most of the work without core.

Easy bike after yesterday's run to get legs turning again. Also had to get the bike ready for Mtn Bike-O. Legs felt okay.

Mississauga Half Marathon 2010 Started fast and settled into a pace at UTM. Yoyoed a bit after that but finished strong. Fast race course but the organization was poor at the finish area. Crowded just getting your chip removed. Getting any food or drink was a disaster. Poor venue for waiting to see other finishers. Next a major walk and wait to get a ride back to the start area and the vehicle.
Felt my right knee throughout the race but it and muscles felt fine by the night after the race. Maybe the 100 day run challenge and cruise to run helped.

MTC Swim with Coach Stewart. Warm up 300 mixed, 4 x 50 back/free, breast/free, 4 x50 kick 2 x75 easy/fast. Main set - 24 x50 1-3 and 4-6 descending, 7 -12 fast with 1:00 rest, repeat for 24 with 50 easy. Cool down - 300 pull, 200 swim with fins, 100 float.
Sticking with minimum head movement looking 6 feet in front as directed. Could go faster by old technique but trying to get feet in line and reduce drag. Varied hard glide and thrust to see effect. Slower but straighter than last week.

MTC Swim with Coach JJ. Warm up - 300 mix, 6 x 25 kick no board, 6 x 25 ,4 x 75 drill/ 50 swim. Main Set - 600 pull with paddles, 2 x 300 swim, 3 x 200 pull, 6 x 100 swim Cool Down - 200 IM easy.
Swam the entire set with head up and in neutral position. This is to straightened out my stroke. Easy swim with no thrust so was slow but consistent. Not sure if this is working but tend to plow the water with more active head position and deeper feet.

MTC coached swim with Stewart. Speed was good but not swimming straight.

Tough ride as there was a 5 kmh wind from the northwest. Going out, it was tough to get over 20 kmh. Coming back was easy at over 30 kmh. Tough to get gear shifts down on my old bike.

MTC Swim with Coach Stewart. Warm up - 8 x 50 IM/Free, 200 pull, 4 x 50 build, Main set - 8 x 100m swim, 8 x 100 pull with paddles, 400 m swim, 4 x 50 lick, 8 x 100 pull with paddles , 2 x 50 kick. Cool down - 50 float

Tried to tighten legs and get front arm angle correct. shifting pull to lats. Marginally successful, speed was not great. 100 m time - 1:50 - 1:55. 400m - 7:30

Tried to work on front snap and connecting kick with stroke. Felt okay but heard I was kicking really wide later. Means my arms must be off a bit on front end. Have to get separation correct and may be get feet into action later.

Ran the bottom half for Mississauga Half Marathon to UTM and back. Ate too much beforehand so the uphill was little fun. Pace was okay after that. Finish just before the rain.
