Running 56:00 [2] 6.0 mi (9:20 / mi)

Tired today, so shortened the Monday run omitting Fairmile Park and Blackford Hill

Cycling 40:00 [1] 7.0 mi (5:43 / mi)

To and from the event, once round the queens drive. And a wee trip up the bog looking for a lost runner before returning with slapped wrists from a ranger.

Running 2:00:00 [2] 12.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Controlling on the Seat, Checking the controls, running some mazes, a few lap of the parade ground now and then to keep warm.
Perishing cold, in that 2 degree high humidity sort of way.

Note

Another big weekend controlling done. Plus ca change.
Lots of good innovative ideas. Never got the final course before printing, everything ran late of the day. All the controls hung in the right place, just in time for the first start.
There's no such thing as an easy run on the Seat.

Cycling warm up/down 16:00 [1] 3.0 mi (5:20 / mi)

There and back

Orienteering race 44:27 [5] 6.7 mi (6:38 / mi)

Edinburgh City race. MSV.
Appropriately racing the lame and the blind on course 3. No regrets - course was a decent length this week and some interesting stuff. Very long leg - 2km - from Heriots to beyond Calton Hill, which ended up being a run down the Royal Mile dodging the tourists.

Ran flat out all the way, a few stops when I couldn't read the map, which were pointless because it just confirmed that I couldn't read the map. This is a big advantage, because I know what goes through and what's blocked, but it still doesn't help if you dont know where you're trying to get to.

Not a very deserved win then, but I think others know the area well.

Running 20:00 [2] 2.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

In out, pretend to warm up for FWTN

Orienteering race 28:38 [4] 3.0 mi (9:33 / mi)

BW-FWTN at KB. Took james entry since he has the shin splints.

Really should have been able to get round here without bother.

But I forgot the you can't get all the way round to Crew building and got well stuck in green, and went base over apex a couple of times when kerbs leapt up out of the ground without so much as a by your leave.

First M50+. Indeed I suspect everyone ahead of me was younger than my T-shirt.

Running 48:00 [2] 5.0 mi (9:36 / mi)

In, there another long day before scuttling home via Craigmillar and out for work dinner.

Wednesday Jan 18, 2017 #

Running 40:00 [2] 4.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

In and home via Blackford hill. Ran out of time, so all a bit faffy.

Running warm up/down 52:00 [2] 5.0 mi (10:24 / mi)

In out there&back

Running intervals 23:00 [4] 3.0 mi (7:40 / mi)

4*1200 in 4:52 47 47 49 Felt comfortable, first one slow when the group didn't get going, last one weaving through people. Warm night and the meadows is busy.

Unspecified 1:00:00 [0] 0.0 mi
