Railroad trail at the Hoover Dam.
Started from the scenic lookout to avoid the massive queue at the Dam carpark itself, ran to the dam 1.5miles, did the tourist thing for half and hour, ran back to the Lake Mead visitor center, 3.5 miles, had a little poke around, then ran back to the car.
The dam itself is quite big, but (rather obviously) smaller than the canyon walls and dwarfed by the scenery. The direct consequence of the dam, Lake Mead, is extraordinary. The indirect consequence, Vegas, LA, Phoenix is mindboggling.

Ran from Phoenix airport car drop off back to hotel (Extended Stay America) in Midtown. Phoenix is a little quieter at night than Vegas, just a few confused-looking postdocs wandering around.
