Gullane training, with James, ran Jane's course from SOC2017. Tougher going than I remembered in the marram.

With Marcin, in a windfest out through Dalmeny/Queensferry/Hopetoun Abercorn, then back through Dechmont, Deans bridge, round by St.Margarets and home via Kirknewton. And a puncture at West Calder. Warm, with some water on the road causing much splashing.

Cramond Parkrun. Sneaky try for a fats tine thwarted by strong winds. Ran steady effort, getting to halfway at 10 mins... But kind of bottled it, needed to go with Jimmy Hudson (M65) who got 20m on me at the turn and cruised back in a pack. 1st M55, woo woo! (we'll ignore Jimmy here).
Having dragged me across town, james at least had the courtesy to win in 1713. Not too shabby.

With Marcin, Lasswade Rd - Musselburgh- Coast - Drem, Dalkeith and back.

Flying out along the coast, Marcin was keen to push on to North Berwick, glad we turned when we did, as the westerly got up and was tough & cold all the way back.

Hill run with James, from beeftub along the ridge down the hill to moffat. Much faffage when distracted by a footpath on tother side of river, leading to up and downage and fence crossings.

But still a 2018 PB. An 3.5 Min improvement over the year, probably only half of which is down to conditions.

Orienteering race 58:31 [4] 6.2 mi (9:26 / mi)

INT club champs at BarrWood, on a 1:7500 map for improved legibility (cough). Run in the snow, cold but generally fine except for two controls on very steep slopes. Fell a lot, and got completely freaked by these to the level of hyperventilating and having to stop once clear to stretch and breathe. Not good :(

Parky McParkrun. Nice flurry of icy rain en route, but only one section of ice on the course and conditions pretty good. Held a 21 min pace with Amy Kerr and Stuart Fletcher until the last 200m where they sprinted inside the 21 barrier and I sprinted outside it. Brrr. Grrr.

Still, PB for 2018 so a small something to be grateful for.

FWTN Craigmillar. Nice course by Sasha, though the urban butterfly was optimised for head-to-head racing so a tad repetitive when run alone. Bideford - Instow, loop of Instow and loop about Bideford to get some stiff climb in to compensate for the flat trail. Wet grey day where the sea met the sky seamlessly.

Just one couple walking a dog on the Tarka trail. "Hello Graeme" says Kevin Martin. Hello, er, Kevin, says me, dragging a name from somewhere. I'm not sure we've spoken more than a couple of times since we were at primary school together, certainly not for 30 years.
