Saturday May 28, 2016 #

Running 1:45:00 [2] 9.0 mi (11:40 / mi)

Rather lovely if slightly faffy run from Aberlady to Yellowcraigs through the dunes on a warm sunny day. Various levels of gitorfmoiland-ishness, from the nature reserve in the south, the tank traps and golf course in the middle, the nottanutta really Marine villa, the fairway doglegging the cliff and the fenced gated community of Archerfield.

Failed to run through Eldbotle wood. gone.

North Berwick sprintelope from the lodge. Very easy, and ended up running quite hard. Got passed by Ian Embury. Twice, thanks to his excursion into some nettles. Some Zebra Finches were to be had.

Running 25:00 [1] 1.0 mi (25:00 / mi)

Faffage at Archerfield. Basically, they cut it all down :(

Monday May 23, 2016 #

Running 45:00 [3] 5.0 mi (9:00 / mi)

Very nice!

Saturday May 21, 2016 #

Orienteering race 1:13:20 [3] 7.2 mi (10:11 / mi)

SOC Balmoral.

Day trip. Felt very rough overnight and uninspired in the woods. Except, well, its Balmoral on a sunny day, so how can you not enjoy it? A few misses on cliff in cliffs, and got caught by JonX on the big climb to the SE hill. A series of Jon going ahead, stuffing up and catching me again ensued. Dont think I could have hung on if he strung 3 clean legs together!

Friday May 20, 2016 #

Running 40:00 [3] 4.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Home via the Hermitage. Felt unexpectedly rough, the cold regaining its grip?

In

Running 45:00 [3] 5.0 mi (9:00 / mi)

Wednesday May 18, 2016 #

Orienteering race 15:52 [3] 2.0 mi (7:56 / mi)

RR Melrose sprint.

Made a total dogs dinner of the not-very-hard RR sprint. Several poor route choices, mapread 2-3 while running 3-4 turned back when a cut through round the pub looked a bit private.

Orienteering 14:36 [3] 2.0 mi (7:18 / mi)

Re-ran the course backwards.

Running warm up/down 32:00 [1] 3.0 mi (10:40 / mi)

Running 10:00 [2] 1.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

and home

Sunday May 15, 2016 #

Orienteering 1:02:00 [3] 6.2 mi (10:00 / mi)

Calder Wood, blue course, after running the start. Lovely with the bluebells out, and a really nice course by Ken. Unfortunately, leggies still refusing to play, so jacked on the brown, trundled slowly round blue instead, and managed to mispunch into the bargain. Still it was a lovely sunny afternoon, and I got my first fastest split of the year woohoo!

Jonny Crickmore got the other 27 ;).

Saturday May 14, 2016 #

Running 23:00 [3] 3.0 mi (7:40 / mi)

Back from Tesco in Colinton.

Running 1:05:00 [2] 7.0 mi (9:17 / mi)

Loop from Harlaw-RedMoss with Jane. Hot!
Struggling with balance, and a bit dizzy, so stopped for a bit half way round. Much better on the flat by the reservoir coming back :)

Friday May 13, 2016 #

Thursday May 12, 2016 #

Running 58:00 [3] 7.0 mi (8:17 / mi)

Monday run sort of thing ending up at home after detour over Blackford. Lovely sunny day, still with a mild bit of cough and some wonky legginess.

Wednesday May 11, 2016 #

Running 45:00 [3] 5.0 mi (9:00 / mi)

Creeping back into it round craigmillar. Still bunged up.

Sunday May 8, 2016 #

Cycling 45:00 [2] 8.0 mi (5:37 / mi)

Out to Criagdon, and back around the braids via the Hermitage. Enough to prove its really not happening yet.
Several hundred scripts marked

Saturday May 7, 2016 #

Note

Ill. Jane too

Friday May 6, 2016 #

Note

Still ill. couldn't sleep and not just because of the election excitement. Fantastic PR -election fact...

The LibDems finished 5th in the elections, but If they hadn't won Fife and Edinburgh, they would have come fourth (by taking list seats from the greens).

I'm now trying to figure how to apply this "succeed by losing" strategy to orienteering. I'm already pretty good at the second part ;)

Wednesday May 4, 2016 #

Note

(ill) something is not right, sore glutes and balance and gait very awry even when walking.

Running 15:00 [2] 1.5 mi (10:00 / mi)

(ill) Set off for a run, failed, shuffled home.

Monday May 2, 2016 #

Note

(still ill)
On the plus side, entered the Canadians and hired bear spray. It's America - weaponry is the only response.

Sunday May 1, 2016 #

Orienteering race 38:53 [3] 4.7 mi (8:16 / mi)

(ill) BOC relay.
Tucked up in a cag all the way round, which says everything really. Legs didn't want to know. Very boring course. Lots of short legs with a bit of bingo action where the map made no sense.

Note

Boys won the M18 relays!

Freddiec came back 4.5 mins down, which turned out to be due to the long gaffel: he was fastest of 20 on that lap! James pulled back 3 mins, also fastest on his leg, leaving lexc to catch 90sec on Alastair Thomas. In classic Alex fashion he closed the gap already by 6, decided that was a bit boring so chucked in a 2 minute error, then closed the gap again by the spectator and won it on the final loop. Quality racing :)
