Arthurs Seat. Bit of a plod, tired and left leg not playing (AWOL calf muscle). Cant stand on one leg so in terrain not too clever.

note: This "injury" is completely painless but doesn't seem to be resolving itself. Gastrocnemius says Jane. 3-4 heel raises is still about the max I can do, c/f forever on teh right leg.

Note

Return to competition after 20 years at the Melville Bridge Club with Fred VF. Hand 1 - slam. Hand 2 - Grand slam! Came just above average 50.5% on the "strong" night. Judgment was reasonable, but anything to do with counting to 13 required too much effort.

Sometime you have to go away to appreciate whats on the doorstep. Nice if windy day for a Pentlands run. Hillend -> Black and back, via Allermuir, Capelaw, Harbour and Bells, plus Caerketton on the return which meant descending and getting blocked by construction barriers, requiring lots of tired faffing to get to the car.

Had a wobble at the foot of Bells on the way back, walked up, then caught a tailwind home so moving quite sweetly. Running is definitely easier than walking when you can stand on one leg!

All day in meetings in Braunschweig and travel to London, Got to hotel at 10pm on Farringdon Road in the p*ssing rain. Headed out.


Tourist route past St Pauls, London Bridge, Golden Hind popped up from nowhere. Tower Bridge, The Tower, Monument, Smithfield at delivery time, and back soon after 11. Cracking..

Run out 2k to meet J&J in a carpark for a run around the woods, which was a bit of a fail as it was so wet and slippy. Jane went off to do more, James and I ran home.

Slow ride out to Fontainebleau with J&J in the sunshine. Brisk ride home again in the pissing rain alne to get the car.

Up to the woods at BoullonMarrotte for an hour of recceing and climbing. Short bits of jog. Nice.

Jacked on the Nottingham City race, instead follow James round a short course to help him cross the roads (as if). Surprised and very pleased to keep up without hamstring pain. Running on good surface in new shoes helps.
James won a buff, so did Jane. So I'm team donkey again.

Cliffhanger ultrasprint. Injured. Trainers on a muddy slope, not best and still making lots of mistakes.
In the final, as usual in Sheffield, battling it out with Ward and Adams, only this time its Lesley and Janet. Ach well, at least the hamstring is sore not retwnaged.

Tired and unpromising run to meadows and George Square. Met Jegor on the way home, and ran with him to Holyrood, then did bog and Radical Road. Remarkable how having someone to run with perked me up.
