Wednesday Sep 28, 2016 #

Running 30:00 [2] 3.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Home via blackford hill. Sore. Heart not in it.

Tuesday Sep 27, 2016 #

Cycling 20:00 [3] 5.0 mi (4:00 / mi)

Checking the new tyre was OK. did x1min up Lauder Road, which felt like a session.

Running 22:00 [2] 2.0 mi (11:00 / mi)

In and out, stretching the hamstring, but still tight and sore.
A brief whooshing noise ensued as James arrived home at the sametime as me.

Sunday Sep 25, 2016 #

Cycling 1:20:00 [3] 20.0 mi (4:00 / mi)

Portmore home, bit brisker

Cycling 1:40:00 [2] 18.0 mi (5:33 / mi)

Eddleston, Meldons, Cademuir, Peebles loop with Jane

Saturday Sep 24, 2016 #

Orienteering 1:00:00 [1] 3.0 mi (20:00 / mi)

Binning Wood. It was an orienteering event. I entered the green course. I didn't find any controls. Still a lot of rhododendron-clearance detritus in the woods, and the ground is very wet. Hope its nicer in the spring.

Cycling 1:45:00 [3] 26.0 mi (4:02 / mi)

Cycle home from Binning wood. Nice, apart from the headwind.

Note

KB Doors Open Day orienteering. Got 50 takers - not too shabby :)

Orienteering 1:30:00 [0] 4.0 mi (22:30 / mi)

Hanging and collection

Friday Sep 23, 2016 #

Running 22:00 [1] 2.0 mi (11:00 / mi)

In and Out. Wearing shorts. ergo running.

Cycling 48:00 [3] 10.0 mi (4:48 / mi)

Couple of laps of the queens drive

Monday Sep 19, 2016 #

Running 30:00 [2] 3.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Run home round blackford. It was slow and sore. But it was a run. sort of.

Sunday Sep 18, 2016 #

Cycling 2:00:00 [2] 25.0 mi (4:48 / mi)

Tooling around Edinburgh, looking a unmapped stuff from Butlins to Leith. Another glorious day in the 'burgh.

Saturday Sep 17, 2016 #

Cycling 2:30:00 [4] 46.0 mi (3:16 / mi)

9:40 slow group of 6 via Gullane. Struggling on the way out, dropped on the parachutes, decided to go to Archerfield to check out parking for SOC. But they waited when stopped at the junction, so no cheeky cuppa. Rolled back home on the coast road in the group, still in chaingang, but surprisingly comfortably.

Insanely nice sunny, still, cool day, went home to relax feeling sated, right up to the moment of reading kitch's log.

Friday Sep 16, 2016 #

Running 10:00 [1] 1.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Loosening

Cycling 20:00 [1] 3.0 mi (6:40 / mi)

Around, testing why the tyre went flat.

Thursday Sep 15, 2016 #

Running 10:00 [1] 1.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Still bad

Note

Having quite some trouble walking properly at the mo. everything is wobbly, I hope its just that with hamstring + calf out of action left leg is essentially useless. Lots of twitching too - probably hot weather.

Wednesday Sep 14, 2016 #

Running 24:00 [1] 2.0 mi (12:00 / mi)

In & out. Ungood

Tuesday Sep 13, 2016 #

Limping home

Monday Sep 12, 2016 #

Orienteering 2:00:00 [1] 6.0 mi (20:00 / mi)

JEC checking and testing

Sunday Sep 11, 2016 #

Cycling 4:20:00 [3] 60.0 mi (4:20 / mi)

Kingussie-Birnam
National designated cycle route 7. Designated rather than actually made.
And unlike yesterday's tri, tarmac was at a premium.
Climb to Dalwhinnie was nice, but beyond there deteriorated into dirt road with headwind, which was pretty tough. Aside from a few bits of potholed old A9 so it goes to Dalnamein. Then nice backroads to Pitlochry, flat but with some sharp climbs at Killiecrankie. From there, expected to roll down by the meandering Tay, by the flat A9 and flat railway somehow. Not a bit of it - sharp turn in Pitlochry. Get off and push across pedestrian bridges, the some serioous climbing on a backroad to Logierait - serious by that point anyway.
Then more dirt track by the A9 before finally joining the back road through Craig a' Barns.
Turned out to be quite a lot longer than expected!
Nice and completely unexpected to get something like this done this w/e.

Saturday Sep 10, 2016 #

Cycling 1:50:00 [2] 25.0 mi (4:24 / mi)

Trundle with Jane Kingussie-Laggan Bridge & back via Glen Trium. Glorious day for it, beautiful spot.

Orienteering 1:45:00 [1] 4.0 mi (26:15 / mi)

Walked round the WOLF middle at Glen Gynack after the flags were taken in. Which was very nice.

Friday Sep 9, 2016 #

Note

Hamstring really not playing today

Thursday Sep 8, 2016 #

Note

Now lost access for the SRC. Peewits are automagically immune to members of the public and their dogs, but explode on the sight of anyone holding a map. Apparently.
FFS.

Cycling 30:00 [1] 6.0 mi (5:00 / mi)

As transport

Wednesday Sep 7, 2016 #

Running 32:00 [1] 3.0 mi (10:40 / mi)

More limping than running, hamstring feeling properly b*ggered. In, and down to ICMS for Gareth's MCMC public talk.

Tuesday Sep 6, 2016 #

Running 50:00 [2] 5.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Lab home lap & back.
8pm. Hot and wet. the Edinburgh Monsoon

Running intervals 26:00 [4] 2.6 mi (10:00 / mi)

4*1km 3:52 48 49 50 then pulled up after a minute of the fifth with tight hamstring. Should really acknowledge it at an injury.

Monday Sep 5, 2016 #

Running 50:00 [3] 6.0 mi (8:20 / mi)

Home via Braids, Fairmile Park BBurn & Hermitage

Sunday Sep 4, 2016 #

Orienteering 40:15 [3] 5.0 mi (8:03 / mi)

ESOC Sprint-O Figgate Park
00:40:15
00:15:12 (8) 00:15:19 (18) 00:09:44 (13)
2 min penalty on 2 - left the maze without visiting the last control. Oops.

Fun, though maze seemed a lot more crowded than previous years.

Orienteering 10:38 [3] 1.0 mi (10:38 / mi)

Maze only.
5:43 Very busy maze
4.45 Quieter maze. More fun :)

Saturday Sep 3, 2016 #

Note

Parkrun. Rested after a short run yesterday (probably), so maybe today's the day to break 20? Woke up at 9:35...

Orienteering warm up/down 1:30:00 [1] 4.0 mi (22:30 / mi)

Much chat, little running, checking options for the JEC sprint.

More weirdness. Discussing quarantine I suggest we used the hut they run the XC from - its just over there. MC looked aghast - JonX just suggested the same solution and they just got back from looking for it. Great minds think alike except for one small detail. There is no such hut, nor has there ever been, somehow we share a false memory.

Running 37:00 [3] 5.0 mi (7:24 / mi)

Astlie Ainsley and Meadows loop in the rain with James. Nice, though he made me work hard.

Friday Sep 2, 2016 #

Running 48:00 [2] 5.0 mi (9:36 / mi)

This is bad.

I went for a run - I know I was tired and it was a lovely day. I know I didn't run especially fast or far I know I set off south. Apart from that, no idea where I went next. nothing. nada. Probably round the Hermitage...

Thursday Sep 1, 2016 #

Running 1:00:00 [3] 7.0 mi (8:34 / mi)

Alnwickhill, Mortonhall, Braids.
Definite suspicion of overtraining at the moment. Need some sh*tty weather.
