Orienteering race 45:32 [5] 7.7 mi (5:55 / mi)

CSC final. 3/58.

CSC has this timed start system where you have to start right next to good people from other clubs. Cap'n Lee said - "leg it off the start, catch Dave Robertson, hang on and suffer".
So I did. In sight by #3, never quite got on terms, generally some 10-15 sec back and seldom seeing him punch. He could have dropped me at will, but waited until the last control and run in to grab 15sec in a minute and a half's run in.

So basically its deja vu all over again.

O-races don't go to Intensity 5 on account of needing oxygen to map read. Today did.

Orienteering race 37:43 [4] 5.8 mi (6:30 / mi)

Carlisle Street race. 1st

Meant to take it easy, but it was so easy there wasn't much let up. Compromised with M40 / padded shoes and not quite flat out, but maybe faster than should have been. We'll see tomorrow.

Running 25:00 [2] 3.0 mi (8:20 / mi)

pre & post dash

Running race 26:20 [4] 4.1 mi (6:25 / mi)

KB dash. Cruising, tired from Tuesday and racing at the w/e. Lovely day.

Orienteering race 36:44 [3] 4.7 mi (7:49 / mi)

Edinburgh City FWTN. Excellent fun for afficionados, but with ubergeeky use of control descriptions lots of freshers were off in fruitless searching. Meant to take it easy, but kept seeing people who needed passing, so didn't really succeed. 2/29 2mins behind Velina Valova, whoever she may be, and 9 sec up on Andrews Lindsey and Dalgleish. Ha!

Running warm up/down 40:00 [2] 4.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

To and from FWTN

Running intervals 1:12:00 [4] 6.2 mi (11:37 / mi)

With a tip of the hat to murraystraining, off for the bestest birthday session ever.

50 x 200m

Ran the first with Martin Hyman, an olympian before I was even born, and the last with Fiona Eades, and the whole set withan assortment of friends from the Meadows and O-scene.

First 10 in ~45 with ~35 sec recovery, then cut the repeat to 70 sec and the interval pace towards 40. Tess arrived to remind me that each rep was a year of my life, which made counting easy and Jamie Thin required a barefoot for the Ramsey year. Decamped to the pub afterwards, spurning James Jarvis offer of "Rum Finish" for a couple of pints of "Flying Scotsman". Life doesn't get much better than this :)

Running warm up/down 45:00 [1] 4.0 mi (11:15 / mi)

To and from the meadows, via home and the pub

Orienteering race 38:24 [5] 6.0 mi (6:24 / mi)

London cityrace. 50 today. M50 today: The main target for the autumn.
Arrived to find Tim Tett and Quentin Harding had snuck in late entries. Win chances deteriorated.

Set off smooth and steady, ten steps wrong way, & stop at 4, -20sec unnecessary steps up at 10 (not reading dix) with workmen carrying stuff up and down - 10sec. Stuff happens. Then disaster, procedural error - 12-14 cost 40 seconds and the race. Eyeballs out from there, but ended up 39sec down on Quentin. Suppose he is World Champion, but this could have been the day, bugger bugger bugger.
2nd / 169 Curse of INT.

All the map geeking on the barbican came to nowt as we didn't go there, course was fun but nothing special. Next year.

Orienteering race 1:21:26 [4] 9.3 mi (8:45 / mi)

Brown course at Lomonds of Fife. Wet, windy, steep and long. Caught Donald P by 3 miins at 5, then back and forth after that. He is running stronger, especially up hill. But I'm a lot quicker at sliding on my arse.
3rd/24. stamina fine, but left calf still very unstable on anything rough, which L of F isn't particularly.
