Orienteering 1:10:00 [0] 3.0 mi (23:20 / mi)

Walk/jog round Kimberley on a score. knee and heel (again - shouldn't have gone on the tarmac) sore.

Orienteering race 27:00 [3] 2.7 mi (10:00 / mi)

US Champs sprint, blue.
Nice little area in Spokane, but felt like an anticlimax after the "proper" race yesterday. Never got into it, then took a massive tumble just before the tricky bit - it was the sort of area where you had to risk getting hurt to go hard. v.sore and bloodied for the rest - skin on your knees is overrated...
I guess the shorts didn't work so well.

Orienteering race 1:34:00 [4] 11.7 mi (8:02 / mi)

Fishtrap. US "long" champs

Hot and very long. I was mincing down on the red course, which was quite far enough thank you very much. Heel giving little gyp except on rocky descents, only problem is lack of fitness/speed. Still, had a clean run which was enough to win red (M35-45, W21) by 30 sec from Joe Brautigam. Ran in shorts, which worked well.

Orienteering race 49:05 [4] 6.0 mi (8:11 / mi)

Us Champs Middle M21, 20th.
Super sand dune area at Moses Lake. Bit like Braunton, but a much more interesting course. Unfortunately, self destructed running 17-16 and then losing the plot towards 21 (4-5 mins)

Orienteering race 1:58:00 [3] 9.3 mi (12:41 / mi)

As some point I have to decide I'm not injured any more. Jukola seemed a good choice. Didn't risk the training, just popped the brufen and went off slow. Generally OK off track (i.e. everywhere), a bit sore on descents and had to walk the rockier bits.

O-wise, it was exceptionally difficult. Went off in the leg 6 mass start 15 mins after leg 7, caught many of them, and had the annoying problem of being in trains of people going my way, but not to my control. Probably lost about 20mins total.

JOK felll way back when Roger T's torch died on him, and he fell in a swamp losing his contact lenses. After that, steady pick up of places all night, ending up 465th

Cycling 1:00:00 [3] 10.0 mi (6:00 / mi)

With Jane, up to the Pentlands - Swanston - Dreghorn. Garmin say very little HR over 100. Not surprising, its the same distance climb and speed as the Meggetland summer run used to be!

Cycling 3:00:00 [3] 25.0 mi (7:12 / mi)

Tooling around Livingston checking out the Dechmont map. This is going to be a very good event (when I get round to planning it)! Then cane it home for 75mins on the towpath. Nice.

Cycling 1:05:00 [3] 12.0 mi (5:25 / mi)

To and from Bonaly, circuitously

Running 10:00 [3] 1.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Up the hill at Bonaly, which was fine. Started back down, which wasn't, so had to walk.

Cycling 25:00 [3] 6.0 mi (4:10 / mi)

To and from street race. Somewhat harder than the running!

Orienteering 25:00 [3]

Urban-O from Ken Daly's. Scrappy, even though I made the map I found it hard to read at 1:6250 (or whatever A4 scale is this week). Ran up some steps, otherwise cautious: hard to concentrate with sore foot.

Orienteering race 1:00:54 [3] 7.0 mi (8:42 / mi)

Scolty SOL
One year after winning black, down on "short brown". Foot still sore but maybe on the mend. Ok running uphill but struggling on flat and downhill. But it was one of those runs where everything popped up where it was meant to, and every contouring leg had the broken heel on the downhill side (i.e. took the pressure off). Ended up only a couple of mins down on Dixie and John Tullie, having pasted them through the technical section.
