jarvis Intervals. Session was meant to be 8*400 with 2 mins recovery. In fact ran 8*2:40 on a loop of unspecified distance. Trailing the group which was doing 90sec for 400 suggests about 650.

Note

Northern Champs wipeout. Fender-bending crash on the way to the nights, missed it by the time it was sorted. Limped home, then spent Saturday waiting for a tow truck.

Results are in from Barr Wood. Basically, I was slowest on every leg, except when others made mistakes. I was also going as fast as I could commensurate with not falling over. Message is, need to be more realistic about the sort of terrain I can hop through.

FVO night race, mass start, Barr Wood. Last by a very long way.

It hss been many years since I last went to do night O, now I remember why. Group was still in sight en route to 2, but several faceplants already, then got completely dropped trying to get through some rough felling rubbish. Over 20 min on 2-3 on a vague slope with no real plan, all pretty terrible. Saw the group again at 5 (they were at 17). After that, quite a lot better up on the nicer bit, but still unable to run without falling.

Gotta love those CLS competions: after lots of years training to run, recently training for cycling, nowhere in any of that. But once a year it's out with the ping pong bat, and by dint of remembering not to try any shots, a CLS certificate is in the bag.

Biked with Tim/Max and briefly Jane to a cafe/mirador beyond Teguise, via Munique, LZ409 round the back of the volcano (rough & horrible road, nice scenery). Lots of climb on the way there, much faster

Not quite the intended lookout, the coach stop from 4 years ago, as we ran short of time. Chainganged on the way back: this meant that on the flat and uphills someone took the lead until they got tireder than the others, on the downhills someone led until they got lighter than the others. Much time spent on the front coming back ;)

CLS group ride fail. Probably overambitious to try this, but once the chain started slipping on the sprocket it was straight off the back. Regrouped at Famara, tried some running repairs but failed again on the climb in the peloton which was a tad scary. bailed, and came back still quite briskly. How was Bughtlins, were the screws too tight?
Very good area, was going pretty sweetly up to 10, then navigate 11-12 which all worked until no flag appeared. Ooops, had a total brain fade, couldn't remember how far I'd even got, so went back to 10. Another loss of concentration near the end cost another 30sec, and finished 2 mins down on DonP.

Round 2. Cammo. Trival course, raced round at full tilt. 3rd at every control, and very split between 2nd and 4th. 10% down on DonP which is I guess where I am with Park Run. Chastening and depressing.
