Cycling 3:30:00 [3] 50.0 mi (4:12 / mi)

ERC 9:45 group on the new bike. Bike is an absolute game changer...
Big group set off up the super steep route from Dalkeith. All a bit shambolic, getting split at every light and turn, people falling off the back, people going off the front then the wrong way. A long puncture stop. Eventually someone was completely lost off the front when a lead group went wrong. I went after them, but couldn't see them, someone else then went off to look someone phoned, we waited.

The bike was a revelation. Everything seemed easy although I was feeling crap. It filled me with confidence, and I was the one to announce what others were muttering, that we'd split. I rode off, and about half followed me. I'm sure on the old bike I wouldn't have the confidence. Off we went, Crichton, Pathhead then someone punctured. Without a spare. No worries, Ill walk back? He said. Last week I'd just have looked at shoes, this week new confident me's giving him my spare and getting the group to wait.

Pushed on a bit from there, Haddington, Yak, Longniddrie, Seton and home. Pretty tired by the end.
