Note

After a bump to my back during my ride that left me with searing pain I decided a trip to emergency at ballarat was in order. After showing my graze to the triage nurse I was quickly seen to by a doctor. Her diagnosis was bruising but I asked if I could have that confirmed. After a quick trip to x-ray it was confirmed I have a double fracture of my coccyx. No more riding for me :-(

MTBO (route choice Kangaroo Gy) 1:42:22 [3] 20.0 km (5:07 / km)
ahr:141 max:178 shoes: Specialized Epic Marathon Car

First session of the day was a pairs course where each of us was to take a different route to the various controls on the map. Good exercise highlighting choice of route to give best flow in control exiting and also cornering. A shorter route may have offcamber corners or corners greater than 90 degrees costing the rider time in negoiating them.

Tracks werent to muddy but certainly the rock is different to WA.

MTBO 1:31:00 [3] *** 22.0 km (4:08 / km)
ahr:143 max:181 shoes: Specialized Epic Marathon Car

This activity required the paired up riders to have one rider and navigate 2 legs before swapping over. I lead the first 2 legs before mat took over. unfortunately as we descended a steep rutted section a rock was flung out in front of me causing my front wheel to stop and nearly ejecting me so i lent back over my rear tyre only for the rock to flick and allow my front tyre to roll. at this point i departed fromt he bike and fell on my arse on to a nice and sharp rock. My right cheek now resembles a grated bit of flesh 10cm long and 4cm wide. Very sore for the next 10min as i couldnt put power down through my right leg. continued the course without incident but the mud out here certainly stank.

Got back to find a big blister on front tyre so had to buy new tyre and a new set of brake pads seeing there were virtually nothing left on them. Got back to caravan park to fit new items to also discover a broken spoke on rear wheel. I sense this is going to be an expensive training camp :-(
