Road Cycling (TTAC V1) 3:28:00 [3] 94.0 km (2:13 / km)

Rode with Tooms to the railway before we picked up Andre. Rode through to Helena Valley rd before being overtaken by the Elite cycles group. Consequently we tagged onto the back and had a free tow up to scott street. Andre took the first climb sensibly this time which meant he didnt pop this time. Tooms and i caught the elite group in front and managed to hold on up the first climb. One guy got spat out early and another dropped back to assist him. Towards the top two guys got away and then tooms rode past the other three which meant i had to do the same to hold him. Finished third and fourth respectively at the top.

Regroup at the top and then proceeded up the toughest climb of the day better than i have in previous weeks. Slowed up to pick up Pushedalong andre and tooms. Rode as a group of three to mundaring. Just before mundaring a recumbant coming the other way was holding up traffic so the barina thought it best to overtake just as we are going past but wanted us to ride in the bush as she needed all the road plus our verge to get past. The 2 large four drives behind her had less issues geting past.

Cruisy ride through to the mandatory load lessening site and then the climb out of the weir. Regroup at top and then proceeded to Calamunda Camel farm for another regroup. Down the hairpin and the climb in Kalamunda before another regroup. This time we got swamped by a large pack, well dribs and drabs that eventually resembled a large pack. It was a group led by trenchie preparing for the ride for youth ride (Albany to Perth) Got out just before them to heade towards the last mountain pass of the day (Toom's favourite). The col de st brigid's managed to prove a non menace for Tooms today before another regroup at the road closure. short detour onto welshpool rd before a solid pace ride home. Great day to be out riding but unfortunately not alot of road furniture out on the verges today.

max speed 83kph

Orienteering race (mt claremont metro series) 43:17 [4] 7.59 km (5:42 / km)
shoes: Asics Kayano 16

Ran reasonably well until 20min mark when the legs said enough. Had simmo in sight from control one and tried to keep him honest all the way around. Left the second last control behind him but made a different route choice to the last which got me a 3m lead which i then had to hold ont he way to the finish which hurt like hell!!

Led the group out 1 min late and also with no danger in sight. shame it didnt stay that way for the ride. Rode through to the cop shop before taking a breather. Led the group to the roundabout before a pesky truck decided to cut us off into the roundabout. Made the call slowing and then took the footpath option to keep the legs ticking over. Waited for the group to rejoin before leading a anothr stint towards leighton. Pace ramped up around port beach for the usual sprint but then the front 6 guys decided to run a red light much to the displeasure of some. We rolled thorugh tot he next lights where the lights changed to amber and someone up front yelled stopping but continued on. Confused i should have stopped but wasnt sure what was happening behind so i did ht ekick roll through on a late amber\red. So at this stage the group had been split into three packs. By stirling bridge group 3 and merged back with us and we proceeded up preston point rd.

Preston point road was cruisy as the pace wasnt over the top which allowed for some coasting. Went through the second roundabout and rolled onto the smooth bitumen only to hear a loud PShhhhh and the inevitable flat tyre feel. as i pulled over Tooms stayed to ffer some moral support. After a quick check of the tyre and the presumption that glass was the culprit i had a new tube in and pumped up in no time.

Cranked up the pace towards Burke dve picking off random cyclists to help keep me motivated. I would do a stint on the front until i reeled in some new suckers and then let Tooms catch the next sucker. This worked well and then tooms took us ont he short cut through tomkins park. I returned the favour and covered the next stretch up to majestic hill. On the way to the raffles we decided to throw in Mt Henry Bridge as we were riding reasonably quick even into the SE wind. Ride up the freeway was cool as we sat on 42kph.

Strong effort through to Udub before Tooms turned off and i pushed on through to Claremont. So much for hiding in the pack today to have a refreshing ride.

Who would have picked my cruisy ride into work at 7am would be in to the sea breeze. Could be in for a cracker on the way home.

Got stuck in a traffic jam 500m into bike ride and then i managed to drop my pump at the 2km mark. Saty behind a car with furniture trailer doing 55km/hr at one stage with the passenger hanging out the window having a laugh at me keeping up with them on warton rd!

Pushed hard through southern river to finally crack the 30min mark for the first time.

Rocked up with only 6hrs sleep after the annual SSWA waffle night. Sahme there were no waffles to eat. I dont no how they expect athletes to survive on a spoonful of mash, a chicken breast overcooked and a piece of broccolini. Anyhow during the evening Tooms and i plotted and plotted and even texted while we plotted a plan for today!!

Rocked up without a warmup to greet Danger, Tooms and a slightly shattered Chris :-) Jumped straight onto dangers wheel for the roll out and sat there until challenger pde to do my usual grind to WCHwy. Chris tried to join me on this section but i could see some suffering occurring so i dropped the pace a fraction. Crossed the hwy safely and then ramped it up through to swanbourne before letting Danger take over.

Recovered and then did another stint down to leighton before chris rolled through for a stint. I jumped back on the front just passed the railway station at leighton to do a leadout for the guys but proceeeded to drop the pace a fraction so i could spring a surprise attack from the front. Came around the corner and lined up the first sign and no one passed so i held off another 20m before dropping a gear and launching my attack. I could feel danger respond and try to pull up beside me but he popped and then i felt another wheel closing in which was chris so i held my speed and he to failed!! Tooms no where to be seen.

Chris led us through to mccabe street at a tempo i didnt enjoy as i was still reeling from hitting 191bpm on the bike. Something i hadnt done in a long long time! Another short stint at the front along mccabe st to ensure no sponge ruling for next week and then Chris popped before we even got to the first climb.

Didnt feel confident going into the climb as i was feeling toast formt he sprint but managed to grap Toom's wheel and hold him to the left hander when he dropped a gear and stood up so i pulled up beside him and then continued past trying to pip the chick at the top. Took a while for the regroup and then Danger set a target for us on the second climb. Was struggling to keep up with tooms and danger at the bottom of the climb but reeled in danger halfway and then closed the gap to 20m to Tooms but left it at that as i didnt want to pop for the ride.

Good ride through to Gallop house where Beefcake did a stint at the front and then i decided to drop the bunch.

Jumped on Toom's wheel for the final sprint, only to have danger pull up beside me on the right blocking any chance of a jump so i sneakily waited until Tooms caught the guy on the front when i launched my attack on the left :-) Claimed three out of the four prizes on offer for today but definately suffered on the way back to the car. I suspect it was our slowest avg from Charlies to floreat in quite a while.
