hiking 1:09:30 [2]

At Nathan Hale Homestead with Ed. Cold. Lots of standing water on the trails with a thin coating of ice.

Note

Another day with no time for exercise. Woke up to news of a bad ice storm in north central Mass. Called Mom and found out that she was trapped in Holden with no electricity/heat and an estimate of 3 days to restore. Left work at noon and headed north to try a rescue. Took a while to find a way into town with wires and trees down everywhere. Looked like the place had been bombed. Now I have a house guest for the weekend and beyond.

Note

Up at 3 am to take Bonnie and the whippets to Logan for a flight to Long Beach, CA for the Eukanuba/AKC Agility Invitational. Check in with 2 dogs wasn't as bad as anticipated. Then back to Hartford for half a day of fun at the office. Good thing the predicted ice storm never happened.

road run 30:53 [3]

December's shorts and tshirt run. Temp 55 at 5:45am. Wind gusting to 40mph. I wasn't the only runner out, but the other guy I saw was still dressed like it was below zero. Must be trying to sweat off some excess weight. Ran to the end of Hannah Lane and back.

Keney Park cricket field and back on lunch break. Raw.

orienteering race 1:37:42 [4] 6.8 km (14:22 / km)

Last WCOC meet of the season at Five Ponds. Cold and snowy and slipppery. One really bad route choice from 13 to 14 and one major mistake on 17. Was about 100m south of the control and couldn't figure out where I was. I finally recognized the swamp east of the control and ended the idiocy.
