Rare run with Bonnie. Rail trail from near the Andover post office, north to about 1/4 mile north of Steele's Crossing Road and back. Ran early to avoid the impending rain but had to put up with stinging sleet for most of the time. This was a long run for me, but short for her. She had already put in 50 miles in the last 6 days including one 15 miler. My quads will be a little sore.

Alumni 5k at Wachusett Regional. 1st Male 60+of 6 entered. First time I have ever beaten Craig McCall and I've raced him alot of times since 1962. . Craig and another classmate of his from '66 were the only other 60+ runners I knew. Since this was the first time the race has been held on the new cross country course, I must have set the standard for old guys.

From Nathaniel Lyon Memorial north on Natchaug Trail to Rte. 198, then south along the river bank to Natchaug SF headquarters. Two owl sightings. Many differences between the USGS topo and what is actually on the ground in this part of the forest.

Pre-dawn neighborhood circuit. Bulky waste week. Went back later with the car to pick up a very nice, stainless steel double bowl kitchen sink with expensive faucet still attached. If I don't use it myself, I will donate it to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Springfield. Much better than ending up buried in a landfill.

Got out the door too late to have time for a decent run, but went to the end of North Farms and back. Unseasonably warm.
AOWN: Woke up at 3am to scratching noises. Found a large bat trying to hide in a dried flower arrangement in our bedroom. Took 15 min to capture and release to the outdoors. Larger than most of the bats I've seen. No sign of the strange white fungal infection that has been reported in bats in NY and New England.

New cross country course at Wachusett Regional. Newly cut woods roads in the forest behind the school's athletic fields. A big improvement over the road course that has served x-country since the school opened in the mid-fifties.
