hiking 2:15:00 [1]

Didn't feel up to a trip to Mt. Tom for orienteering, so did an easy hike in Mansfield. Nipmuck Trail south from Bassett Bridge Rd. to North Windham Rd. and back. Roughly 4 miles with a few side trails and some bushwhacking.

Note

No where near well enough to run today's high school alumni 5k, but I did drive over to watch. Only one other person over 60 had registered - Elmer Ream class of '65. He ran 30:36 I think and I congratulated him on his victory. How come every race I run has multiple 60+ runners who kick my ass and then I'm too sick to run the one with a weak field? He was impressed when he saw that I still had a Wachusett track sweat shirt from 1964.

Note

Subtle hints that I was coming down with something have turned into a full blown nasty cold in just a few hours. Sore throat, can't breathe, earache, temperature. I took today off as a prep day for a busy holiday weekend - Thanksgiving at Christian's, Mom's 84th, Wachusett Alumni 5k and Post Thanksgiving O at Mt. Tom all look really doubtful at this point. Bonnie got started with this cold a couple of days ago and now has no voice. She's scheduled for 4 days of agility competition at Eastern States Expo. It will be interesting to see how the pups perform without verbal cues.

orienteering race 1:58:51 [3]

WCOC meet at new map south of Danbury - Hemlock Hills. Nice interesting terrain. Wore the brace and was able to run without pain. No compass as usual. Made 25 to 30 min of errors - relocating skills are improving, but need to relocate way too much.

Saturday Nov 17, 2007 #

road run 32:34 [3]

Home to end of Hannah Lane and back. Foot felt fine while running and hurts like hell now.

Tuesday Nov 13, 2007 #

road run 28:33 [3]

Neighborhood tour after dark. Approx. 5k

Saturday Nov 10, 2007 #

orienteering 1:25:11 [2]

Hanging cotrols at Session Woods for tomorrow's meet.

Sunday Nov 4, 2007 #

trail running 36:12 [4]

At Gay City. Major face plant resulting in a cut knee, jammed finger and then back spasms as I resumed running. Stopped for a quick stretch and was able to run again. Spasms resumed after the ride home. Crap.

mountain bike 50:00 [3]

Bike to Bolton Motors to pick up the car. Thankfully just beat the rain.
