Trails from UConn campus down to Fenton River along the river for a few miles and then back to campus. Hot and humid. Working on getting the full Katahdin pack adjusted properly. Boot break-in going OK.
Commute back to Bolton Notch from Hartford. Took more of the bike trail along Rtes. 291, 84 and 384. Much longer than the road commute in this morning, but safer during afternoon rush. Unfortunately, hotter, steeper and longer made for a slow ride.
Medium length course on the Assabet River in Maynard, MA. High water, few weeds, 60 degrees and overcast. Got slashed by greenbriar running to a dry control in an area mapped white. Plenty of swans, great blue herons and antique bi-planes for added interest.
Still unable to run, but need to prepare for Katahdin in July. Hiked all trails at small sanctuary in Tolland with 20 pound pack and new boots. Plenty steep. Calf OK.
Intended to do 3 loops at Belding but calf injury got really sore 2/3 through the 2nd lap. Must have tried to do too much too soon. Will go to PT on Monday.
