pre start and finish at Weeksies Pizza = good

Pre race meeting then maps, then bus to the start. didn't see that coming. frantic strategic planning meeting on the bus with Jeff. Quickly decided to finish off the s/w and s/e maps first then onto the city map. early thought was to skip 23 and 24, but we would keep our options open. by leaving the 6 points on the big map for last we would be the furthest from the start, but the distances and speed would be easy to calculate and we could not afford to be late. it became apparent that our average speed was quick and we were knocking off cp's rapidly. we disposed of the second map and decided we would have time to get everything. the route in general was anti clockwise with some wiggles in the middle. stopped in to build the Nemo tent and warm up. we should have refilled our bladders here, but were able to later on at a spigot. continued on to clean up the northeast side and then make the long slog out west. I continually measured the distance we needed to cover and it looked like we would have 20-25 minutes to spare. after stopping for water and blowing a few minutes in the woods near 27 and 28 we came in with 15 minutes to spare.
Nice to clear the course. great fun, good times before and after hanging out with everyone. bummer the season is over.
I physically felt pretty dam good for 24 miles. the last three were rough, but not that slow. 23 miles last week, 27 this week. I might back off a bit next week, but not too much. big race coming up in 2 months.
