I have been training. Honest. I even have a new training partner. He's fast - very fast - but only over relatively short distances right now. We're working on building up his endurance.
We picked up
Bunk at a dog rescue out near Brockville just over a week ago, and despite some puppy exuberance (he's just over a year old) he's adjusting amazingly well.
Loves people, including kids, and wants to play with other dogs to death. Seriously. No aggression, but does not understand the meaning of "I don't want to play with you" from other dogs, and one day will probably get his ass kicked because of it.
At any rate, he's a great running partner -- stays tight to my side for the most part, except for distractions from squirrels and other dogs. So we've been out running twice a day for short runs between 15-25 minutes each. One thing he does not do well is warm up slowly. We are at our fastest as we exit the house, and then slowly decelerate from that point on. Once he is in better shape and is able to hold his pace for longer, I will be in serious trouble.
