Longer than usual night-time dog walk. Part of it being longer is I wanted to be late enough coming down the next street to the N of us that the chances of running into unfriendly dogs would be less. So who did we run into on the next street (at 10:22 pm -- at the 2.2 mile mark) -- the bad Labs of course! Fortunately I saw them coming in from a side street when we were about 100 yards from the intersection, but Hanna knew it was them and starting going wild as she usually does.

Nightly dog walk. Instead of around the block, we took the Rt 104 path from Bay to Maple, then headed back the same way. Last night we had an encounter with the "bad labs" (two ladies who walk three labs, from the next street over). They've always been quite nasty to Homer (note that being nasty is not a typical trait for labs), but Homer has the maturity to just ignore them. When Hanna first came anywhere near them, she must have sensed their nastiness because she herself acted quite nasty towards them. They've never come too close to each other (a street width apart is the closest), but Hanna tugs very hard on the leash, barking and snarling all the time. Not real pleasant. We don't encounter them more than every 3rd or 4th walk but just to make sure, we didn't venture over to their territory tonight.

SSGT Javier Ortiz Memorial 5K, from Frontier Field (part of the Puerto Rican Festival). First race I've done in ages -- couple of years I'd say.

It was a pretty small field so it didn't take too long to get to the starting line, but still I decided to start my watch when I crossed the line instead of when the official start was.

It was supposed to be a certified course, but my GPS said 3.14 miles and trailsnail's said 3.16 miles, so it may have been a bit long. In any event, I'm calling this the distance that my GPS said rather than 5K.

Finished 4th out of 5 in my age group -- not too good but what more can I really expect. I was only 26 seconds out of 3rd place at least.
