Orienteering race (Sprint) 22:43 [4] 2.16 mi (10:31 / mi) +7ft 10:29 / mi
shoes: Saucony Excursion TR8 2015

Gen. Valley Park, Red Sprint course. 2.8 km straight-line distance.

I was in 13th when I finished, not exactly stellar. I made a few bobbles and sub-optimum route choices, nothing major, but the main problem was I'm just not in very good running shape.

Edit: I was 14th out of 33 starters. AP split analysis said I lost 43 seconds total, all on #1, which I totally believe because it took me a while to get into the map and I made a less than perfect route choice, plus I was moving slow because it took a while for everything to make sense to me.

A consolation is that it doesn't look like anyone older than me beat me. But there may have not been anyone older than me on the course other than Rick Worner who mispunched, so that's not saying a whole lot ...

Walking (Dog walk) 33:11 [1] 1.32 mi (25:07 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel Contend 2 April 2015

Dogs were definitely in slow motion tonight. I felt like I was nearly dragging Homer, and even to a lesser extent, Hanna. Too many things to smell. For some reason they more faster when it's light out.

Urban rail-trail (El Camino trail), from Ridge Rd down to Avenue A, then back and a little bit to the north of Ridge. Certainly an urban environment! Lots of abandoned factories along the sides, but also some very attractive "wall art" on the sides of some other buildings.

Walking (Dog walk) 1:12:43 [1] 3.74 mi (19:27 / mi) +7ft 19:25 / mi

Took advantage of the lack of rain to take the dogs on a semi long walk. Quite windy though!

Running 41:11 [3] 4.29 mi (9:36 / mi) +3ft 9:36 / mi
shoes: Asics Gel Contend 2 April 2015

Afternoon run with trailsnail, mainly on the bike path. We took 90 sec walking breaks every mile.

I've been following PG's Boston Marathon progress (and a few other people) much of the day. Hearing about and thinking about marathons got trailsnail and me inspired to do a long run. So we ran 4 miles rather than our normal 3 miles! :)

(We also recalled the days, not too too many years ago, when a regular run was say 6-8 miles and a long run was somewhere around 15 miles.)
