Mapping 1:16:00 [1] 1.7 mi (44:42 / mi)
shoes: Hiking boots

Webster Park, east of Holt Road. Squeezed in a little mapping time between two get-togethers of my son's girlfriend's family, one of which was very close to Webster Park which helped the logistics.

Webster Park mapping, on a very warm day (low 80's). Worked again on NE section.

Walking (Dog walking) 45:00 [1] 2.0 mi (22:30 / mi)
shoes: Asics GT-2130 Trail

Morning walk with Homer over to Finn Park, with a nice swim in the creek as a reward for him.

Running 47:50 [3] 5.26 mi (9:06 / mi)
max:150 shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 10

I really wasn't able to HTFU today. Not sure if the best lame excuse is it being unseasonably warm (around 77) or because this was the third day in a row that I ran, with the last two being somewhat non-trivial (medium long run on Wed., fairly fast run yesterday). I had intentions of doing a fairly slow 10 mile run, but I really didn't have it in me, I realized about 3 miles out. Wound up taking two walking breaks (not included in time and distance), and then walking in the last 1.4 miles because I just couldn't get up the energy to start running again. And I had water with me, so that wasn't the issue (although more water and colder water would have been nice).

Ran from home, to Maple, up to Klem, Klem to Hojack to Hard Road. Took my first walking break on Hard. Then ran another mile, to where I was on the Rt 104 path between Hard and 5ML, and I took another, longer, walking break. Ran another mile, then walked the rest of the way from there.

Walking 36:50 [0] 2.0 mi (18:25 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 10

Total of two walking breaks during the "run", plus 1.4 miles of walking after I ran out of gas.

Mapping 2:15:00 [1] 3.0 mi (45:00 / mi)
shoes: Hiking boots

Webster Park mapping. NE section.

Lost my compass in my travels. Frustrating and unnecessary, because I essentially don't use the "loose" compass for anything other than the mm scale on it, and only very rarely for a bearing. I have an old thumb compass mounted on the map board which works well for keeping the map oriented. I should carry a ruler on a string for distance measurements; way cheaper than a compass. A consolation is that the compass that I lost was quite a few years old, and had developed a pretty significant bubble. So it's an excuse to get a new, better compass.

Running tempo 28:24 [4] 3.56 mi (7:59 / mi)

Late afternoon run, for heat acclimatization purposes ...

Woodland to Bay to Rt 104. Rt 104 path to Gravel, to Ridge, to Maple, to Heathland, and back home.

Running warm up/down 4:17 [2] 0.5 mi (8:34 / mi)

Mapping 1:50:00 [1] 2.5 mi (44:00 / mi)
shoes: Hiking boots

Webster Park; area east of Holt Road.

Running (Semi-long) 1:15:17 [1] 7.7 mi (9:47 / mi) +492ft 9:13 / mi
max:140 shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 11

Semi round the bay run, on the last day before the outlet bridge is taken out. From MacGregor's on Empire, to the Bayside, via the west side of the bay. (Otherwise there wouldn't have been any point to beat the bridge closing, if we had gone the Webster route, because that wouldn't have crossed the bridge. Plus the west side is much more interesting, although also much hillier.)

Ran with Anne. Had lasagna at the Bayside after the run, meeting up with our spouses, plus Freddie (the grandchild) who Cheryl was babysitting for this evening.

Running (Treadmill) 50:00 [2] 5.35 mi (9:21 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 11

Treadmill workout, at the OCD fitness center. Started at 5.5 mph, gradually sped up to 7.2 mph. Used a 0.5% incline for the whole workout.

Listened to about 1.5 Fresh Air episodes, which helped alleviate the monotony to some extent.

Ran into local masters running star Jim Robinson in the locker room while I was getting ready for my workout. I asked what he had been up to, and he said he recently competed in the US master's indoor track championships, running the 800, mile, and 3000 meter, taking two thirds and a second.

His time in the mile was 4:58 (not bad for anyone, but especially for someone 56 years old!). That was the event he took second in. The winner ran 4:54. He was neck and neck with the winner with a quarter mile to go, but although Jim ran a very fast 68 second last quarter, the winner ran it in 64 (!) seconds.

Walking 52:00 [1] 2.2 mi (23:38 / mi)
shoes: Hiking boots
