Running 59:00 [4] 5.61 mi (10:31 / mi) +1148ft 8:49 / mi
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 10

Very hilly trail run, on a trail that starts about a quarter mile from my sister in law's house. The Ridge Trail of the San Juan Capistrano trail system. Very scenic views, both of mountains and valley inland, and towards the coast. Tough workout; pace per mile isn't impressive but this was a much harder workout than yesterday's flat run at Dana Point harbor.

Running 44:23 [2] 5.0 mi (8:53 / mi)
max:145 shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 10

Mid morning run at the Dana Point (CA) harbor. Didn't get going until 10 am by which time the temp had warmed up to the mid 70's or so, but the dew point was 60 so it was pretty pleasant. Nice place to run. Miles of sidewalk distance right along the water. Tons of people out, walking, running, boating ...

Running 44:55 [2] 4.0 mi (11:14 / mi)
max:145 shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 10

Morning run in Buellen, CA (a little NW of Santa Barbara). Cheryl and I and Cheryl's sister are doing an overnight trip to one of the wine regions of CA; ran from the Buellen Marriott (actually called the Santa Barbara Marriott, even though it's at least 35 miles from Santa Barbara).

Very nice morning; 60 degrees, with the sun just rising as I set out, and heavy fog in the river valley that paralleled the road I was running on. Mountains on several sides.

Note

Woke up in Lagune Niguel, CA (where there has been essentially no rain for many months) expecting to do a long walk/run this morning, only to find that the ground was totally wet and it was still raining! OK, they DO need the rain, so I'm happy for them, but I was really kind of hoping to get away from rain by coming here.

Running 38:18 [3] 4.25 mi (9:01 / mi) +328ft 8:24 / mi

Late afternoon run from my sister in law's house in Laguna Niguel.

Down trail in Salt Creek Canyon, to just past Niguel Rd, and back. Slightly different route after the baseball fields on the way back.

Rain had stopped; 70 degrees and moderately humid, by S. Calif standards (61 deg dew point).

Note

Travel day. Rochester to Newark NJ to San Diego, then drive to Laguna Niguel. Not exactly the optimum route choice (going to San Diego via Newark).

Purpose of trip is a 1-week visit to Cheryl's sister and brother in law who live in Laguna Niguel (roughly midway between LA and San Diego). Cheryl's sister was apologetic about the lousy weather they had waiting for us -- "lousy" meaning overcast and in the upper 60's, which is still a major upgrade from recent Rochester weather.

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any O meets in LA or San Diego this coming weekend.

Running 36:22 [2] 4.0 mi (9:06 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Grid Stabil 6

Ran from Woodhull/Severn Ridge area, to Holt Rd, to Webster Park near tennis courts, then some trails for a while, eventually coming out on Lake Rd at the campground entrance. Back Lake to Holt and back to the start. Probably about 1/3 on roads and 2/3 on trails.
