From home. Warm and muggy; 78 degrees, 70 dew point. I managed 3+ miles with no walking breaks, which is unusual for me.

Canal path, from Shoen Place heading east. Longest run I've done in a long time. Several walking breaks. GPS said 135 feet of climb which is preposterous. More like 10-15 feet. For some reason, there is often but not always a perturbation in the elevation when I take walking breaks.

HJ trail and some roads (to avoid the unpleasant gravel area between Van Alstyne and Klem).

Gosnell field. Three loops around plus a bit more to get it up to 3.5 miles. It's a deceptively tough loop, at least for me. A fairly steep downhill early in the loop followed by what seems to be a long continuous uphill slog, not real steep for the most part, but never ending.

In and around Cobb's Hill Park, with trailsnail. Lots of other people out walking, running, playing tennis and basketball, and participating in outdoor exercise classes. Good to see. (Except maybe the basketball -- rather high risk from the COVID standpoint.)

Lots of opportunities for hill climbing.

Dog walk with Hanna and Cheryl, at 4 Mile Creek. Not terribly humid but it got a lot hotter than we were expecting. Hanna got to take two dips in the creek.

Oak Openings Long Advanced course. Tried to get out early to beat the rain, and succeeded. Some drops were falling right when I got back to my car.

It seemed like for too much of the time, I was wading through grassy areas with waist to shoulder high vegetation, not really enjoyable. I'll have to review my route choices to see if some of that could have been avoided.

About 2 weeks ago, I had a very hard fall on the HJ trail, tripping on a tree root, and because of that, I've been extra careful to avoid bad falls. So I was hesitant to do much running in the open woods, even when I probably could have. Some trails I ran on but was very careful to watch my footing. In spite of being careful, I managed to fall once, leaving #12, tripping on a branch. I was walking at the time so it wasn't a damaging fall, just got a little dirty.

Only the second or third time I've worn these shoes. They seem to work well for orienteering shoes. They have a little cushioning, unlike my Inov8 shoes, and they have a reasonably aggressive tread. My feet were comfortable the whole time. The only downside, which can be fixed, is that the laces tended to come untied, even after being double knotted. I'll have to try replacing the laces.

More comments later.

HJ trail, with trailsnail. My second run in these shoes. In my first run, I took a very hard fall up at the far northern end of the trail. I didn't totally rule out the shoes as a contributor to the fall. Today, I was very careful and managed to stay on my feet.

Maple Dr, and the bike path. One walking break at 2 miles. Garmin web site is still on the fritz, so no GPS track, again.

Garmin not uploading. Apparently it's an issue with Garmin's web site.

Distance was 3.0 miles. The climb is an estimate of my best recollection of what the GPS said before I reset it.

Canandaigua, from Sonnenberg Park, after playing 3 games of pickleball on the fantastic courts they have down there. It was warm and muggy and I felt totally wilted after the three games. For some reason, it felt a lot more pleasant running than playing pickleball. Tried out a section of Stina's "trail", then ran some roads. Three 1-min walking breaks.
