Leavenworth FF Challenge. My pace was actually about 20 sec/mile faster than when I went out for a practice lap 2 weeks ago and today I was running in boots. Ave HR was 10bpm higher than last week. I finished 5th overall. Winning time last year was 122 and winning time this year was 108.

Went for a final run around green before the race next weekend. I didn't do as well as I would have liked. Legs felt heavy and I was tired from lack of sleep so I just decided to go at an easy pace. Archelles are hurting bad. Will take the next week off running. Just found out the Georgia D will be running. She is a shoe in for overall winner. Maybe her legs will be tired from todays Yakima skyline race and I might have a chance.

At work. Warmup 2k erg and stretching. Ff challenge bunked and on air. 20 tire flips, 200yd farmer with 50 each hand, ff crawl across app bay and back. Done twice 1k air remaining. Twice as gar as last time. Ass kicker. Followed with lifting

Hiked up storm king with the boys. didnt have suunto so guessed on everything. Dropped weight to 25lbs as my knees are hurting a bit. last hard day will be a green mtn run on Saturday. Think it was 1.5 up and 1hr down. Top bit was real sketchy and thinking I shouldn't have brought the boys up to the top.

Workout at work. 2k row warmup, stretching, FF combat challenge bunked up on air, 10 tire flips, 50lb per arm farmer carry 50yds, fireman crawl across app bay, wash rinse repeat. Will double distanse and time tomorrow. All floowed by lifting.

Took the boy and dog east for some Vitamin D therapy. Climbed Baldy. Wildland boots, new pack and 40lbs on my back. Boots suck and hurt my heals, and the wldland pack is the worst pack I have ever worn. I can not believe that these are the norm. Some AR type should introduce good pack to the wildland community.

Boy kept asking is I was alright. I asked him to help lift the pack once we got to the top. Working on making a mtn dog of the puppy.

Pre ran the wildland FF challenge course in Leavenworth. I missed a few turns and added about 1/2 mile to the course. It was advertised as 1600ft of climb but not so much. Trails are all buff mtn bike trails even the climbs so they are all nice constant gradient. Head down and grind it out. 25lbs on my back felt like nothing. I ran in my trail runners and not my boots as my archeles are hurting a bit from my previous boot runs so I expect my actual time to be a bit slower.

Time to let the mtn runner out and show these wildland guys what its all about. Race on 4/28. One more hard week and then taper into the race while ramping up the paddling.

Ran Squak. It fits closely to the profile of the FF challenge that I will be doing on the 28th. Ran in with 25lbs pack and wildland boots. Need to push a bit harder on the uphills.
