Mike drew a control-picking course on his new Slough Creek map. My brain and body were tired from too much training (and pumpkin pie), so I made some mistakes. I walked the whole time and tried to concentrate as much as I could. It is a good map. The woods are typical of Kansas, but there were a few patches of nice woods, which was very nice surprise. A nice warm day (12-14c) before a winter storm hits tomorrow.

Mike and I drove to Rockhaven so he could check out control locations for his event. I re-ran an old course from 2014. I set the course, so I remembered parts of it, but not all. I deliberately took routes through the woods, to practice navigation and rough bearings. As well as to check out how the bad the woods are this season. They are rough. I'll definitely choose trail routes on Jan 1st.

I got tried and slowed down a lot at the end. Skipped a few controls and walked it in to meet MIke on time.

Thanksgiving Weekend: my favorite of the year! Four days of O and good food.

Mike drew a 10K course for us to run today. Time is close, but not exact. I was around 16 minutes when I decided to take off some clothes and that's when I accidentally stopped my watch. I hit "save" but it didn't actually save (that happens a lot). The rest of the course took 1:42.

Decided to go up and over on 3 since it was not a race. Saw Mike as I was going to 8 and he was going to 5. He caught me at 17. I was getting really tired by then, and couldn't follow him through the woods to the finish, so I stayed on the trails.

Beautiful day (temps from 5 to 8 while we out). Saw Blair and some friends on mountain bikes, and lots and lots of deer.

Home to start cooking the turkey parts for dinner. Just Mike and I this year, so we're keeping it really low key.

hike 30:00 [3]

With Sandy and Kiri at the dog park. We moved at a very brisk pace, because, well, Sandy. And it was colder than we expected so we needed to keep moving to stay warm.

Note

Working finish and results at PTXIX at Lake Jacomo (Fleming). Eric brought the RV which served as a nice windbreak. Reta helped and we figured out the few technical glitches (laptop cord left at home, splits not printing, etc).

Fun to watch everyone finish and hear their stories. Nice to see Kissy (briefly!), watch Brooke win her first Dead Possum and to have Tom as a house guest (we missed you Lisa!)
